Well, the good news is that the motorcycle vs. semi-truck accident on Saturday was NOT a fatality. I have no idea why the ambulance would call it as “code black” when it wasn’t a fatality, but they did, and it wasn’t, which is GOOD!
The not so good news is that I did, indeed, end up knowing the motorcyclist who was injured in the accident; not personally, really, but more through reputation. I do know his wife, though. But anyway, the injured man is Rex Monahan, a truly phenomenal human being! If you have a few minutes, I urge you to follow the link and read about a man who has given and given and given, and not just monetarily, but also in idea, time, deed and action, all for the betterment of his community and humankind alike. And no, I’m not exaggerating. ;) He and his wife are both amazing people, and I believe you would enjoy reading about Mr. Monahan …. it might help to strengthen your belief in the goodness of the human spirit.
Mr. Monahan was seriously injured when side-swiped by a semi while waiting to make a left-hand turn on his Harley Saturday afternoon. According to his wife, Doris, he remains in ICU where he requires constant care, but is expected to recover, thankfully!
My dear friend, Kim, wrote a paper on Rex Monahan back when she was in college. While doing so, she discovered through her indepth research that a vast majority of his philanthropic acts are done so with the stipulation that the recipient not divulge from whom it came. Now that’s a truly selfless human being! So please keep him in your thoughts for a speedy recovery! And thank you!
