I talked to my son earlier tonight (I guess that would technically be last night), and he said that so far, the swelling in Brayden’s arm and hand has only gone down a tiny bit. It is still painful to the touch, and he wakes up crying every time he moves in his sleep. My poor, poor little guy. I just can’t stand it when they hurt like that!!

My sister is moving back to town today!! She’s been living in a town an hour away for about a year, and it’s been awful not having her here! After her last scare with the congestive heart failure, she realized she really needed to be back home, and I am SO happy! I will feel much less anxious and worried knowing she’s just across town.

My nephew is also home for the weekend, which is really nice. He lives in Denver where he goes to school. He gets to missing us as much as we get to missing him! It’s always great to see him.

My oldest friend called me Thursday night. She and I have been friends since we were 2 years old. Yeah, you read that right - 2 years old. We met at our babysitter’s house. We got to know each other and shook hands over the bathroom sink and promised to be friends forever. We may have been 2, but we knew a good thing when we saw it. ;) I have SO many great memories from that time at Leona’s. She was our babysitter. Cecil was her husband. He was really great! Every single day we would hide under the kitchen table and “scare” him when he came home for lunch. lol Funny how he never knew we were there. *wink* Leona’s is where I cut the top of my head open, too. I was climbing on their wood pile out back (probably when I wasn’t supposed to), and fell. All I remember is Leona running me to the bathroom and holding my head over the sink, where I saw blood running down both my braids. The next thing I remember is showing all the neighborhood kids where they had to shave a little spot of my hair in order to put stitches in. They all thought it was cool and wanted to see it all the time. LOL Oh my, the things we remember, eh?

Leona passed away a few days ago. Kim and I talked for a long time on the phone. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since we’ve talked, it always feels like yesterday. We both decided we wanted to send a nice plant to the funeral home for Leona’s family. It’s the least we could do. Now she is with Cecil …. and my Mom. God bless her.

You have yourself a nice Saturday now, ya’ hear? Relax, stay cool, and be good to yourself.

  1. Oh Leigh, I do hope the swelling in little Brayden’s arm and hand goes away real, real soon. Poor little sweetheart. Rotten spider!!!! Grrr!!

You enjoy a lovely weekend with your family, Leigh.
And I am sorry to hear of Leona’s passing. I bet she had a ball babysitting you and Kim in her younger years.
