Well, my computer is really jacked. Luckily my sister had a computer she wasn’t using right now, so we borrowed it and I got it all hooked up and going yesterday. I don’t have access to all of my files, of course, but I can do the basic things, which is much better than not being able to do anything!

My daughter-in-law’s brother custom-built my computer for me, so I need to get it up to him so he can fix it for me. For now I’m able to post to my blogs and receive and send email, so that’s good.

I want to thank ALL OF YOU who left such great ideas and advice for me! I’m fairly sure now that it’s either the motherboard or a virus. I’m hoping it’s something he can fix easily. Anyway, thanks again for all your help!

I started this blog almost 6 years ago. It will be 6 years in December. I thought long and hard for a name for my blog. I couldn’t come up with anything I thought was memorable or unique. Then it hit me — Thoughtprints. Like footprints, only I’d be leaving tracks of my thoughts, right? So imagine my surprise when I saw the word Thoughtprints all big and bold and jumpin’ off CNN’s front page the other day! I was like CNN is writing about little ol’ me??? Wow! I’m … shocked!! Oh …. wait …. upon further inspection I see it’s not about me and my almost-six-year-old blog after all. It’s actually a log entry from the case files in the Chandra Levy and Natalee Holloway investigations being kept by four Bauder College students. Here is, in part, what this particular log entry says:

Log 4: Thoughtprints
June-July 2008

We hosted a cutting-edge crime fighter, Dr. Andrew Hodges. His work has been hailed by numerous law enforcement agencies as new and innovative. He coined the term “thoughtprints.” To better explain what this technique is, here is an explanation from Hodge’s Web site:

“A thoughtprint is unconscious communication hidden within verbal or written communication. The unconscious mind is communicating constantly and typically hides its messages in verbal or written communication generated by the conscious mind. We don’t always say what we mean. These unconscious communications are called thoughtprints.”

Huh. Who knew. I still say I came up with it first!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but you’ve been unable to comment on the last few blog entries, thanks to my web host migrating their accounts to a new platform, which totally screwed up my blog. When I called tech support — and I must admit here they actually did try to help — they ended the conversation with the never-before-uttered phrase “We don’t support Movable Type, only Wordpress”. Ugh! Oh well, I’ve been wanting to change this blog over to Wordpress for a while now, anyway, so I guess the time really has come. I will be attempting that monumental task this week sometime. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Meanwhile, back to my life in the real world, my family and I have been traveling, taking a couple of trips over the last two weeks. It’s been so much fun! Our first trip was to Estes Park here in Colorado, which is one of our most favorite places to go. This time, however, I would have to say it was the best one ever — except for the fact that our daughter came down with the flu the first night we were there. The next day she was feeling better, so we managed to still salvage a good time! I took a bunch of pictures and have posted them to my flickr, so please go and enjoy! I’ve added a little of the history of Estes in there for you, too. ;) Oh, and just wait until you see the pictures of those beautiful Elk that walked through our “back yard”!

Our other trip was to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska (in my opinion, the only thing that redeems Nebraska — sorry Nebraskans. GO BUFFS!). We LOVE this lake! To begin with, it’s huge and has a sand bottom so there’s no muddy mess like a lot of lakes/reservoirs, and the beaches are beautiful white sand! The closest thing to the ocean near us, that’s for sure. LOL I don’t have the pictures downloaded from my camera yet, but when I do I’ll post the link. We took our daughter’s best friend with us, who had never been there, along with two of our dogs — the tiniest, Riley, and the biggest, Cheyenne. Now, Cheyenne is a Lab through-and-through and adores the water, so she had a FABULOUS time. Riley, on the other hand, is terrified of water, so I thought bringing him was a mistake, but Hubs insisted. Well, much to my surprise, he really enjoyed the beach and playing ball with us. What he didn’t like, of course, was ALL THAT WATER! He got on Callie’s back while she was on the tube and she took him for a little ride, but he hated it. LOL Later I got in the water which, by the way, is still very cold, and started making those kind of noises you make when you dip yourself into cold water, you know? lol Anyway, Riley heard me and thought I was in trouble, so he mustered up all his courage and jumped down the little “cliff” alongside the water and was all set to come rescue me. He jumped onto Callie’s back once again and she began paddling toward me. The whole time he was staring at me with this “I’m coming! I’m coming!” look in his little eyes. It was SO CUTE! I couldn’t believe he would face his worst fear to save little old me. He is absolutely my hero! All seven pounds of him!

I best get a move on and see about all this changing over to Wordpress thing. It makes me shudder to think of importing all of what’s here, but a gal has to do what a gal has to do for the love of her blog. ;) Oh, and by the way –

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all of you fathers out there!

CNN has just decided to report on what all of us who having been blogging for a while already know: Your Blog Can Be Group Therapy. Duh! LOL

According to the aricle, “Blogging can create an instant support system, especially at a time when you might not have the energy or resources to seek out people who’ve shared your experiences.” Amen to that! I’ve been using my blog for therapy since day one. It’s nice that everyone else is finally catching up and realizing how valuable blogging can be!

Blog on, boys and girls!

Hi, guys. How is your Tuesday going so far? My day got off to kind of a slow start. It’s one of those “do it when you feel like it” days. It’s cool, though.

I’ve been doing a lot of work on my web sites lately. As many of you know, I had a “dry spell” for a few months wherein I did very little blogging and really ignored my sites. As a consequence, I’ve suffered much lower recorded visits and page views. To those of us who have blogs, we know that our sites live and die by the numbers. Months ago my PR fell to a 4, and I’d really like to get my 5 back. So, I’ve been doing some damage control. I’ve submitted my blog to the newest ways out there to help increase my traffic and page views, plus I found a great web directory free of charge to which I can submit my blogs. I thought that sounded great, considering most good directories charge in order to get a listing with them.

I could kick myself for allowing things to go downhill so much around here, but I guess at the time my mind and heart just weren’t in it. Things like that happen, right? It’s like running a race and falling behind, then suddenly catching your second wind and sprinting forward again. I guess you could say I’ve found my second wind. Finally.

I hope your day is being kind to you.
