EXXON MOBIL: BIGGEST PROFIT IN U.S. HISTORY

That’s right, folks. While we’ve all been fighting and scratching to make ends meet, to pay our mortgage every month, utilities, groceries and put even a little bit of gas in our cars to get us to work every day — if we even have a job — the huge oil company Exxon Mobil has been making record-breaking profits! According to the report:

Exxon Mobil Corp. set a quarterly profit record for a U.S. company Thursday, surging past analyst estimates.

Exxon Mobil (XOM, Fortune 500), the leading U.S. oil company, said its third-quarter net profit was $14.83 billion, or $2.86 per share, up from $9.41 billion, or $1.70, a year earlier. That profit included $1.45 billion in special items.

The company’s prior record was $11.68 billion in the second quarter of 2008.

The latest quarter’s net income equaled $1,865.69 per second, nearly $400 a second more than the prior mark.

The company said its revenue totaled $137.7 billion in the third quarter.

Wow. They’ve had a banner year, haven’t they! But damn, that picture just doesn’t look right to me. Does it to you? Here’s something else that doesn’t look right: Under John McCain’s proposed tax plan, he will be giving $200 billion in cuts to corporations, and yet ANOTHER $4 BILLION TO OIL COMPANIES! I will be SO glad when this election is over and Barack Obama is our new president! Sarah Palin and John McCain are disgusting, loathsome liars. They are two of the biggest hypocrites I have ever had the misfortune of listening to. Want proof? How about this:

And now today Palin is going on and on about a man named Rashid Khalidi, who is a leading scholar of Middle Eastern studies at Columbia, and who was a contemporary of Obama’s while on the faculty of the University of Chicago. She is saying Khalidi was a spokesman for the Palestinian Liberation Organization back in the day, which he vehemently denies. It is true he has been a harsh critic of U.S. foreign policy toward Israel and has accused the country of “occupying” Palestinian territories, but so have many other Americans. Does that mean they’re all “shady characters”, “dangerous” and “terrorists”? Yeah, I know, it’s supremely stupid. We do still have free speech in this country, don’t we? The Obama camp posted this, in part, on their web site:

“ugly insinuations about Barack Obama’s relationship with a former neighbor and university colleague … are completely false.”

Khalidi said Wednesday, “I am not speaking to the media at this time, and certainly not until this idiot wind passes.”

The Obama campaign called Palin’s remarks “another recycled, manufactured controversy from the McCain campaign to distract voters’ attention from John McCain’s lockstep support for George Bush’s economic policies.”

On the campaign trail Obama said this:

McCain has spent the last few days calling me “every name in the book.”

“I don’t know what’s next. By the end of the week, he’ll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

Are you ready for more McCain Hypocrisy now?

During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.

A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi’s Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank.

The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi’s group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of “sociopolitical attitudes.”

Ouch! Oh John, say it ain’t so! Are you trying to lose the election?? Does anyone on your staff EVER do fact-checking and/or research into the stuff they give you to say before they actually give it to you??? If it weren’t so pathetic and dangerous, it would be comical. But, I guess what you did is different, right? You only gave him thousands and thousands of dollars. Barack Obama attended a farewell dinner for Khalidi when he was leaving the University of Chicago for Columbia University. Yeah, that sounds pretty sinister.

McCain has run some of the DIRTIEST, most NASTY politics I have ever seen in all of my 50 years! They’ve been running most of their campaign on innuendo and evil insinuations. And all of that after he PROMISED he would run a clean campaign! I don’t want to hear any more of his whining about Barack breaking a promise regarding public financing — not after he’s broken promises himself! He’s just desperately jealous of the amount of money people have to given to Obama because they believe in him, including ME!

So what AREN’T they talking about? Well, I invite you to revisit this post of mine regarding why Todd Palin would probably NEVER be able to get a security clearance because of his relationship with the Alaska Independence Party (a very radical group, for which Sarah Palin recorded a video this year for their convention, telling them to “keep up the good work”), and this article about McCain’s relationship with G. Gordon Liddy. An excerpt:

McCain has attacked Barack Obama for his connection to former Weather Underground member William Ayers, who in McCain’s words “was unrepentant over his activities as a member of a terrorist organization.” In the final debate, McCain said that “we need to know the full extent of that relationship.”

But though he thinks it’s terrible for Obama to associate with dangerous militants, he thinks it’s fine for him to do the same thing. And he’d rather go back to the Hanoi Hilton than disclose “the full extent of that relationship.”

[...] I repeatedly e-mailed campaign aides Tucker Bounds, Jill Hazelbaker and Mark Salter with several questions about the association. Their response? The same response I would have gotten had I e-mailed a trio of wax dummies: silence.

This leads us to some inescapable conclusions. The first is that McCain lied when he promised to lay out his relationship with Liddy. The second is that he is hypocritical in demanding something of Obama that he won’t do himself. The third is that he is scared to tell Americans the truth because they won’t like what they hear.

He’s disgusting. And so is Palin. According to two different top McCain aides this week, she is, in fact, “a Diva” and a “whack job”. Nice. That’s a helluva way to get people to believe in your candidate, isn’t it? They’re ALL whack jobs in my opinion!

That ugly fringe element of our society have taken their cue from the thinly-veiled vitriol being spewed by Sarah Palin and John McCain and are beginning to come out of the woodwork into the light of day. I’m sure they think it is what is wanted, and dare I say even expected of them when they listen to Palin at her rallies. The following stories should scare and incense you. The truth of the matter is that these kinds of things will continue to happen if McCain and Palin don’t stop their racist-laced rhetoric and innuendo:

ADA, Okla. — Newspaper subscribers in an Oklahoma town have found fliers for the KKK wrapped up in their Sunday editions the past three weekends, and police are working to find out who’s behind it.

Jeannie Coplin has received the paper for the last 30 years.

“This is the first time we’ve ever experienced anything like this,” Coplin said.

Recently, Coplin said she’s been getting material from the Ku Klux Klan along with her daily paper.

Ada Evening News workers have fielded more than 300 calls from angered customers.

“They’re mortified and so are we that our newspaper would be used in this way,” Publisher Lone Beasley said.

The racist organization has been illegally wrapping fliers around the Ada Evening News, greeting Sunday morning readers with messages like, “God Bless America and the Ku Klux Klan,” according to newspaper representatives and the Ada Police Department.

It’s a message that is not being received well in this south-central Oklahoma city.

“They go in the dark, take our newspaper and wrap a flier around our newspaper,” said publisher Lone’ Beasley.

He said it’s being done to make it seem as if the Klan is advertising with the newspaper.

The KKK papers included a release saying the group does not support Presidential candidate Barack Obama. It included discussion about protecting Caucasian Christians.

“This is the year 2008. We’re supposed to be above things like that,” Coplin said.

According to some, whoever is responsible for the ads are going to Ada recycling bins to gather papers, wrapping them with the KKK propaganda and dropping them at houses.

“This happened not only in the city of Ada, but also out in the county and even some surrounding counties,” said Mark Bratcher of Ada.

“It’s unauthorized, something we would never condone,” Beasley said.

It’s also against the law, police said.

While investigators are looking into hate crime charges, trespassing and littering charges are also being considered but there are no suspects.

“We need the public’s help if anybody sees anything suspicious…they certainly need to report it to police,” Bratcher said.

Many who received the papers have chosen to throw them away.

Newspaper managers said they are confident the documents are not coming from any of their employees or paper carriers.

If that’s not enough, how about this shocking story out of Atlanta, Georgia:

ATLANTA (AP) — Federal authorities are investigating an inflamatory racist flyer containing a threat against Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama that was circulated in mailboxes of a suburban Atlanta subdivision.

An FBI spokesman said Friday that investigators “reported the matter to the U.S. Secret Service for further review and determination on handling.”

The Secret Service did not immediately return a call.

The flyer purportedly from “some of us KKK brothers,” which surfaced this week in Clayton County south of Atlanta, contained derogatory references to blacks, Asians and homosexuals. It said if Obama won the election “we may have to get rid” of him and “in fact we will.”

All of this, not to mention rally-goers who continue to yell things like “kill him!” and “terrorist” while Sarah speaks, and yet she does absolutely nothing. NEITHER of them do anything! John McCain even announced how “proud he is” of the people who go to their rallies! You should absolutely be livid by now. You should write letters, emails — stand up and shout it if you have to — that we will NOT stand for this! Not again! (this is McCain’s contact page) McCain and Palin have shoved us back in time by decades with their hateful and fear-mongering rhetoric! None of this KKK crap was happening until they started in with all of their insinuations and innuendo about Obama being “dangerous”, beginning with the LIE that Barack Obama “palled around with terrorists”. How dare they play on people’s fears about 9/11 to win a damn election!! Don’t even try telling me that they didn’t mean anything racist by it, or that they didn’t think anything bad would come of it. BULLSHIT! They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. SHAME ON THEM! Is this what we want in a President? Someone who is DIVISIVE and uses fear and intimidation to get what he wants, in his OWN country from his OWN fellow Americans?! WTF?! He will absolutely do ANYTHING — and I mean ANYTHING — to get elected! So much for country first, eh?! Yeah, as if! The truth is that it has and always will be MCCAIN first!

I was watching Big Brother 10 last night (which actually isn’t too bad this time; they have real conversations with big words and everything ), and I noticed they like to use the sauna a lot. So, what’s up with that? I mean, everyone I know tries like hell to stay OUT of the heat and humidity, not purposely step into it! So what’s the big draw, anyway? What is a sauna supposed to do for you exactly? If all you want to do is clean your pores or something, just come here where I live and step outside! At 100 degrees and 85% humidity, I guarantee you’ll be sweating buckets in 30 seconds flat!

Personally, I detest sweating. Hate it, hate it, HATE it. I can’t even imagine how sitting in a little room with the specific purpose of sweating could possibly be enjoyable. One of the girls sat in there for 45 freakin’ minutes! By the time she got out she said her face was on fire and she felt like she was going to pass out! That’s just stupid. I mean seriously, the only time I can think it might be even slightly desirable is in the dead of winter when it’s like 20 below zero outside. On second thought, no, not even then. In the case of dead-of-winter-below-zero-weather I much prefer a nice long, hot bubble bath. At least when you come out of a bubble bath you smell good. Coming out of a sauna all sweaty and smelly …. not so good. Why anyone wants to do that is beyond me. Maybe one of you could enlighten me. Or, you know, at least try to enlighten me. I guarantee I’ll still think it’s stupid. I’m just sayin’ …

I have a real problem with the way things are handled out here in the Wild, Wild West with regard to wildlife that wander into populated areas. Let’s not forget that WE are the ones who intruded on THEIR environment because it’s so beautiful and wonderful and we just had to be/live/visit there. If the animals — and I’m speaking specifically about mountain lions and bears — wander into your yard and kill your cat, well then, I guess your cat shouldn’t have been left outside. If you live in bear country and are stupid enough to leave your doors and windows wide open, then you’re just asking for company.

What set me off, you ask? Well, over the last week I’ve read two different articles on 9News.com that have really angered me. The first was about three bears who wandered through open doors and windows and had themselves a little look-see inside a couple of houses. The Division of Wildlife sedated the bears and took them about 20 miles away and let them go. That’s all good and well, but then they said if the bears come back they will be killed as per Colorado law for being “nuisance” animals. I ask you, who’s being the nuisance, the bears or the humans!

I saw the second article today wherein it was reported that Division of Wildlife officials have killed two mountain lions this week that strayed into Durango city limits in southwestern Colorado. Yeah, they were two young female lions. One of them was found eating a cat behind a shed and the other one was killed because some guy happened to see it behind his house. Oh no! You live in the mountains of Colorado and you call the damn Division of Wildlife because there’s a mountain lion behind your house?! What the hell did you expect when you moved there??? Asshats!

It’s just not right. No animal should be killed unless it attacks someone when it’s living in its own natural habitat which PEOPLE have invaded! If idiots don’t want mountain lions and bears around, then they should move down here to the plains! All we’ve got are snakes, and raccoons, and deer, and antelope, and bunnies, and foxes, and coyotes — oh wait, they would probably want to kill all of them, too.
