In an offensive move by the McCain camp, they are feigning shock and surprise and crying foul because the moderator of tonight’s Vice-Presidential debate, Gwen Ifill, has written a book slated to be released in January entitled “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama”. In the book, Ifill takes a look at the black political movement’s beginnings during the Civil Rights movement that gave way “to a generation of men and women who are the direct beneficiaries of the struggles of the 1960s,” according to Amazon.com.

But wait, boys and girls, the news of this book was released WAY BACK in July, and Ifill discussed the book in a interview with The Washington Post on September 4, well before the Commission on Presidential Debates announced the debate moderators. I could go on and on about how everyone already knew about the book, but Keith Olbermann lays it out much better than I ever could. Take a listen —

It’s quite obviously absurd that they are becoming so indignant about something everyone already knew about, but if Palin bombs the debate tonight they’ll spin it to make it look like she did so because of bias on Ifill’s part. Leave it to the Republicans!

Oh, and by the way, did you know that McCain is already a self-admitted liar? He has admitted to lying in order to get votes. He’s also a famous flip-flopper in the past, just as he’s been in this campaign, most blatantly about the economy: One day the fundamentals of our economy are strong; the next day we’re in a crisis; the next week we’re close to another Depression. It all makes me dizzy. This is what he did in 2000:

Early 2000: McCain Called The Confederate Flag “Offensive” And A Symbol Of Slavery. McCain appeared on “Face the Nation” and recognized the offensive symbolism of the Confederate flag. McCain said, “The Confederate flag is offensive in many, many ways, as we all know. It’s a symbol of racism and slavery.” [CBS News, Face The Nation, 1/9/00]

A Day Later, Aides Say He Misspoke. The next day, “McCain reversed himself and called the flag ‘a symbol of heritage’ …Aides said he had misspoken in the television interview.” [New York Times, 1/12/2000]

2006: McCain Conceded He Lied In 2000 to Win Political Points With the Confederate Flag, calling it “An Act of Cowardice.” Following the 2000 South Carolina primary, McCain admitted that he had lied about his position on the confederate flag in order to win political points while battling George Bush in the South Carolina. McCain admitted, “I feared that if I answered honestly, I could not win the South Carolina primary, so I chose to compromise my principles. I broke my promise to always tell the truth.” Speaking on the incident in 2006, McCain went further, saying, “The flag in South Carolina. I said that that was a state issue [in 2000]. It’s not a state issue. It’s a symbol that should not fly over the state capitol anywhere in America. …I said that it really wasn’t any of my business, was basically what I said. That was an act of cowardice.” [New York Times, 4/20/2000; CNN, 5/24/2006]

John McCain will say ANYTHING to get himself elected! If all of that isn’t bad enough, please remember, too, that he has a very short temper and is enormously impulsive, condescending, patronizing and rude, evidenced very well by his behavior in the debate last week. And speaking of that debate, those of you who watched it saw it, and those of you who didn’t know about how he did not look Obama in the eye even ONCE during the entire debate! I’m going to go ahead and ask something that simply begs to be said:

WHAT KIND OF WAR HERO WON’T LOOK HIS OPPONENT IN THE EYE?!

But even if he wasn’t a veteran, it STILL needs to be asked:

What kind of MAN won’t look his opponent in the eye?!

Think about that for a while ….. and then think about how that might translate, if he were President, in meeting with world leaders of countries we don’t necessarily get along with and who personally piss him off. If that doesn’t scare you, you are are simply choosing not to see, because it’s completely obvious to the rest of us!

Me too, Mary Lou! I’ve been counting down the hours! One hour, 38 minutes to go! LOL Palin may be a good governor, but she FAR from being ready to serve in an office just one heartbeat away from president!
