Well, I heard from that law firm here in Colorado that specializes in animal law. They called to see exactly what it was I wanted to accomplish. I told her I wanted the bogus charges dropped and for Cheyenne not to be labeled a vicious animal! She then asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment for a consultation with the attorney, Jennifer. I asked if we could have said consultation over the phone. She said no, I’d have to go all the way to Boulder for a one hour meeting to see if I would want Jennifer to represent me, and it would cost $200.00. I had to work very hard not to choke at that moment, but I was eventually able to speak and told her I had talked to an attorney here in my town and I would have to think about it and get back to her. She said to keep in mind that Jennifer specializes in pets, their owners and their rights according to the law, which is very difficult, so be sure to make an informed and educated decision when choosing an attorney. Yeah, I know that. But $200 for a one hour meeting all the way in Boulder?? Don’t think I can swing that.

I’m just still feeling rather deflated right now. No one Deb emailed has contacted me YET. The court date is the 27th and I’ve not spoken with one single person. I guess people around here don’t think a dog full of nothing but love who is falsely accused of attacking and killing a cat and biting its owner is important or matters whatsoever. They’re all probably thinking, “oh geez, it’s only a dog!”. No, she’s not only a dog! I bet they wouldn’t feel that way if someone pointed the finger of guilt at their innocent dog!

I think maybe I should just go ahead and write a letter to the editor of our newspaper. Looks like that’s the only way I might get this out there in front of the people. Anyone else interested in doing the same thing can do so here.

I’m glad we’re going out of town this weekend. I need to get out of this town for a while!

  1. The wheels of justice grind slowly. Is that how it goes or have we confused it? It’s hard to remain calm and patient in your circumstances, but Deb has confidence.

Jan gets impatient too when she tries to get results and everyone is on vacation or goofing off or hiding out or …..? Try to relax and enjoy your weekend.

  4. Thank you, Marie. I’m hangin’ in there, but sometimes it seems like it’s by my fingernails. I sure am going to enjoy my weekend! A couple of days with my daughter and her friends out of town — it will be a joy. Thanks again!

  5. Hi Leigh, I know Deb is going full-force on this, so don’t give up. She always gets what she wants, just give her a little time.
I think everyone should write a letter to that editor, I had found the part on their website about not impounding an animal that had been vaccinated. That never should have happened. Just knowing that the Humane Society can and will break it’s own bylaws scares me.

  6. Hi, ML. I’m not doubting Deb at all. She’s a dynamo! I doubt all the small-minded people who live here. They’re not all like that; only the ones in government. It’s crazy, but true. Thanks for the encouragement and support! You guys are amazing!

  8. Thanks so much, Luxor (and Mom!). Yeah, I definitely need to recharge my batteries. It always does me good when I can get to the mountains — or even close to them!

  9. Oh, I know you weren’t doubting Deb, you just want this to be over. She will get the charges dropped, just like she said. It’s them — they just move so slow — like you said about the small minds in government. They have made a huge mess now and they know it. And we know it.

  10. You’re right, ML, I want this over in a big way! Believe me, patience is absolutely not my strong suit. I sure HOPE they know they’ve got a big mess on their hands! And soon I hope they all have egg on their face!
