Hey, Everyone.
I have good news to share with you tonight!
My grandson’s surgery went amazingly well!
Even though they ended up pushing it back two hours because of a trauma case that came in, it all went very smoothly. They took every conceivable precaution and paid extremely close attention to what his Factor VIII levels were at all times. I’m just so relieved and so thankful, and so very grateful for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!
We spent the whole day yesterday waiting and waiting some more at Children’s Hospital. That left a lot of time for people watching. Unfortunately, many of the people we saw were parents pulling their sick children around in wagons or pushing them in wheelchairs. We saw many bald children milling around with their parents, and I think we all know what that means. We also saw a wonderful art exhibit which included pieces done by some of the patients there. Let me tell you, it was completely amazing. Some of those children were stunningly talented! And we’re talking 8, 9, 10, 12 year old children! It was … unbelievable.
Much later that night, when we returned home, my daughter and I went to the store to pick up some dog food and milk. As we were walking down the aisle, I saw a lovely family coming toward us. There was mom and dad and two children, one of whom was an infant being carried by mom. I turned to my daughter and commented on how strange it seemed to be walking down the aisle of Wal-Mart when just 3 hours before we had been walking down the aisle of Children’s Hospital, watching sick children with their parents walking toward us. It was almost surreal. Then I told her that people just don’t realize how very blessed they are to have healthy children to walk with. Not until they go to a place like Children’s, that is. At once my heart was breaking for those sick kids and their parents and overflowing with gratitude for how blessed my family and I have been. So, go hug your children and whisper a word of thanks to God or the universe or whomever or whatever you believe in, and also a prayer for the sick children and their families. Believe me, they can use all of them they can get.

That’s wonderful! God bless your grandson and your family with good health and joy. My niece just had kidney surgery this week and she is fine also. It’s so hard to see these little ones go through tough times, but they certainly do teach us a thing or two, don’t they?

Oh boy, do they ever teach us! Sometimes I think children can teach us more than we ever teach them, if only we pay attention. I’m so glad your niece is doing well!
God bless you and yours, as well.

I’m so glad all went well! It is very important for us to appreciate the good things we have, the healthy family and friends, too.

I’m so glad things went well. It’s such a worry when someone you love has to go through a surgery.
