I was reading our local paper online today, as I usually do, when my eye caught the title of a letter to the editor. It read “Drive-through act of kindness recognized”. Drive-through act of kindness? Huh? So I kept reading. It was from a woman here in town who described a recent stop at McDonald’s for a bite to eat. She had placed her order and pulled up to pay, but the gal at the window told her to go ahead as it had already been taken care of by the lady in front of her. She didn’t recognized the vehicle, but was told that particular customer had done this many times before for other people. Now, is that cool or what?
The woman who wrote the letter said she had been going through a very stressful time, but that act of kindness really made a difference and gave her something to smile about. She wanted to thank whomever it was for their kindness and the lesson she took from it as she looks for a way to pay it forward.
It’s amazing how one little act of kindness can change an entire day for someone — sometimes an entire life. I’ve always considered acts of kindness as having the ultimate ripple effect — you just never know how many people it will eventually impact. One smile can completely change a person’s attitude for the entire day, touching everyone else with whom they come into contact. Have you ever stopped to consider the power living inside one smile? One touch? One little act of kindness?
Enough to change the world ….

What a great story…if only people stopped to realize that even just a smile goes a lot farther than a frown…I’m a firm believer in…
Positive begets positive and negative begets negative!
It is so much easier to be pleasant and kind to others …being nasty and hateful uses up way to much energy and stressful on the body!!!
Enjoy your day!!
Cheers
PS…where did you find your smileys…they are great???

I love this story! I’ve actually considered doing this for someone before, whether it’s at Starbucks, or some other drive-through. Everyone should try it sometime!!

An act of kindness goes further than folks think! Even if you are in the grocery store and seeing someone trying to reach an item that might be a tad too tall for them and asking them if you can assist, 9 times out of 10, they will say yes! A big smile will come across their face and you feel a little better for just giving an assist! Go out and perform these acts of kindness to find out how it feels!

That was a great blog post. Too often we are so wrapped up in our own stuff we forget there are other people with a lot of stuff of their own. Great things can be done when you take a moment to look up from your own feet.

I made 2 temporary “brief” friends while grocery shopping last week.
Of course, I said with a smile.
He was very appreciative and we just got chatting. Then another elderly person turned up with just a few goodies. I let her slip in front of me, too. Again, the appreciatian toward my little act of kindness made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Then I heard the gentleman say to the lady, “there’s still a few of us left.”

Jeannine, no effort at all, huh. Some people act like it’s going to kill them to be nice. I just don’t get it.
If they only realized, right?

Laura, so true! I don’t think most people can see past the nose on their own face. It’s so sad.

Debbie, good for you! Seems like most everyone else is always in such a hurry that they wouldn’t dare take the time to let anyone go ahead of them. When I worked at the store there were very few people who would do that. It was pretty unbelievable actually. But then there were those people who went out of their way to help someone out, like giving them money when they didn’t have enough to pay for their groceries. That’s what touched me the most. There really are some angels left out there — like you!
