I can’t believe I did it so fast, but I did! I moved everything from MT to Wordpress, and I didn’t lose a single post! I got all 1584 of ‘em — AND all 6000+ comments! 
I worked straight through the night — mainly because of glitches MT was giving me — and then finished up this afternoon. I am SO happy! Yay! Everything is already running much more smoothly!

I’m glad you like the smilies. I’m a smilie junkie. LOL Not sure what you mean by posting anonymously as a.c., but that’s because I’ve had practically NO sleep for the last two days thanks to all of this migrating/import/export stuff.

I was surprised to read that you changed from MT. What was the problem? I would go back to MT again but not WP.
Your comments are still in a subfile from the old mtblog. Just checking in case that is a problem when working with WP later. I found it full of bugs and glitches.

Hi Laura
I had used MT for this blog for six years, and until the last year or so I’d been quite happy with it. I’m not so sure it was MT or my web host, but things had become really difficult. It was one problem after another, and for the longest time people would get a blank white screen when commenting, which resulted in a lot of double comments. Lately, though, my web host migrated my domain to their new platform and EVERYTHING went wonky. After a long conversation with tech support, and after they seemingly tried everything, they announced to me that they only support Wordpress, so if I needed help I’d have to get it from the MT community. Well, I have two other blogs which have been Wordpress powered since their inception and I’ve been very pleased, and there were just SO many problems with the MT, so I decided to make the move. I actually really like Wordpress a lot. When MT first came out it was absolutely the bees knees, but I think Wordpress is much more user-friendly and less hassle.
Thanks so much for the heads-up about the comments. I’m not sure if that will give me headaches or not, but it’s good to know.

Im glad to see your move from MT went OK(despite the fact it took you all night lol). I used MT a long time ago and now Im using WP. Word press is definitely a lot beter
