Hey peeps, guess what? This is Be Kind to Animals Week. That’s right, boys and girl, Be Kind to Animals Week is from May 4th through the 10th. It was created by the American Humane Association way back in 1915!

Now, I know we shouldn’t need to be reminded to be kind to animals, but in an effort to impress those who aren’t so readily inclined to treat animals with the dignity and respect they deserve, do something special this week such as donate to a local animal shelter, report any animal abuse you witness or become aware of, and maybe reach out to a new pet owner and help teach them to become a responsible pet guardian.

If you have the means to do so, perhaps this week you could even adopt a pet! If not, then perhaps you could make time to volunteer at a local shelter, rescue group or Humane Society. Believe me, you will get SO much more out of it than you give!

  1. I give to the ACPCA regularly and encourage others to do so as well. Being the “mom” of 2 precious rescues, I couldn’t imagine not supporting such a worthwhile organization. :-) A really easy way to help your favorite animal cause is to use GoodSearch.com - Every search makes a difference!

  2. Yes, we should be kind to animals at all time. And this is a good reminder to ourselves to be kind to animals at all times. It is also good that we prompt each other to act kindly to animal everyday too.

  3. Thank you for the reminder. It’s a shame that people have to be reminded to be kind. I love animals, and would be very sad not to have a pet.

Smokey Joe, my 18 pound Maine Coon Cat (rescue) is my very favorite at this moment.
