I imagine by now a lot of you have heard about the tornadoes in Colorado today. Not all that unusual, given that May is typically our severe weather month, but the tornado which hit Windsor, Gilcrest and Platteville today absolutely was unusual in that it was so HUGE and hit so early in the day. Tornadoes like that are normally found in Kansas and Oklahoma, not Colorado. The damage done in today’s confirmed 6 tornadoes is devastating. Thankfully the loss of life was limited to one man whose RV in which he was camping was taken by the monster tornado. My heart breaks for his family.
Today our town was lucky. The terrible storms flanked us all day, but we were left alone. We had high winds and cloudy skies, but that’s all. We’re still under a Tornado Watch for another hour and a half, but I don’t think anything is going to happen *knock on wood*.
You should definitely check out this video on CNN — it’s awesome, and will show you exactly what I’m talking about. They have a good article about it, too.
Springtime in Colorado is nuts. Today we had tornadoes in and around the front range; severe thunderstorms and tornado watches on the plains; flooding due to rapid snow melt up by Steamboat Springs; and snow advisories at and around the Continental Divide. Yep, that’s Colorado for ya’. ;)

I hadn’t heard about the tornados. Glad you are ok. I have a friend in Colorado, I’ve known her for a long time. Can’t think of her town at the moment. Hope she is ok too.

Being in California, we- thankfully- don’t have tornadoes here… Well, we get baby ones every blue moon but nothing like in other parts of the country. How scary!

We just heard about it on the news. We are out on the road and headed home. Luckily we live in southern part of Oklahoma and didn’t get hit.
But, we have had three touch down within a couple of miles of our house just this year. I saw one as it was dropping down while we were headed to the shelter.
Also we are for Obama too…YES WE CAN!!

Glad to hear you are okay. We live in Oklahoma but we are south of where they hit today.
We have had three this year within a couple of miles of our house touch down. I saw one as it was dropping down as we were headed to the shelter. It did a little damage to one of our neighbor’s home. Luckily no one was harmed.
And BTW……we are for Obama also!! When I saw your Obama tag I just had to stop and comment!!
I hope the rest of your week end goes well!!
