Ugh!

Looks like we’re in for a BIG heat wave here in Colorado for the next few days! That sucks on a couple of levels. First of all, it always means more forest fires up in Rockies, usually because some idiot up there camping for the long holiday weekend decided to have a campfire when he wasn’t supposed to. That, and dry lightning. Secondly, it will probably mean restrictions for the 4th of July with regard to fireworks and stuff. I’m OK with not shooting off our own, but I sure hope they don’t cancel the city’s firework display. They had to do that a couple of years ago, and it really just ruined the holiday for all the kids.

According to my weather people at 9News:

Dry air over the western U.S. is going to hang around for the next 5 days, putting the region under unusually hot temperatures and very dry conditions. Have fun at your cookout and outdoor party, but be careful with the matches. The fire danger will creep up over the western valleys tomorrow and it will become tinder dry over the eastern plains by Sunday, as the winds increase and the humidities drop. Wear sunscreen, your sunglasses and be careful out there.

UGH!

  1. I love it when Colorado people talk about heat and mention sunglasses.

But the umbrella smiley has the right idea.

  2. Completely off-topic. I love the banner image at the top of your page. It now ranks second in my faves in terms of images you have used, the first one being the little girl with the sunflower.

  5. I hope the heat wave is less than what they’re predicting. It’s been hot here in South Eastern PA, but most of the nights have been cool, so we’ve been able to open the windows at night. I like that.

Have a nice week - heat and all.

  6. I know how you feel. We’ve been having this really hot and dry spell for the past week and boy it sure is hot! I haven’t seen the rain in close to 8 days or so and we do get lots of rain over, so you can imagine the heat. Relentless

  7. Ugh - I feel your pain with heat waves. We get mugginess and humidity, which is less scary than fire risk, but miserable to be out and about in!

  8. Hey Leigh, Have you heard an update on CJ? I know she was going into the hospital but nothing since then,

  9. Cassie - Yes, we can open our windows at night, too. So far, anyway. Probably as July continues we won’t be able to do that.

Nick - I can’t even remember the last time it rained here. It’s tricked us a couple of times, making us think it was going to rain. LOL Shame on Mother Nature! ;)

Pam - Years and years ago, at this very time of year, my family and I went to Oklahoma. I’ll never forget what that humidity felt like when I first stepped into it! It was literally like a wall. I totally sympathize with you!

Mary Lou - I didn’t know she was back in the hospital. Fill me in!
