Pics ‘N Stuff

Here are a couple of pics I took of the snow very early this morning, just as the sun began to rise.

I know it’s not a whole bunch of snow, but it’s a good start! A lot more than we’ve been getting!

I was surfing some of the blogs I read on a regular basis and found a very interesting story over at Creechman’s. I don’t know why, but I found it extremely funny as well as interesting. Go read it, I’ll wait a few …. Okay! Isn’t that funny? My totally favorite parts are:

“Women have an eight-lane superhighway for processing emotion, while men have a small country road,” said Dr Brizendine, who runs a female “mood and hormone” clinic in San Francisco.

There are, however, advantages to being the strong, silent type. Dr Brizendine explains that testosterone also reduces the size of the section of the brain involved in hearing - allowing men to become “deaf” to the most logical of arguments put forward by their wives and girlfriends.

NO DUH!! This, I’m afraid, is NOT a revelation.

But what the male brain may lack in converstation and emotion, they more than make up with in their ability to think about sex.

Dr Brizendine says the brain’s “sex processor” - the areas responsible for sexual thoughts - is twice as big as in men than in women, perhaps explaining why men are stereotyped as having sex on the mind.

Or, to put it another way, men have an international airport for dealing with thoughts about sex, “where women have an airfield nearby that lands small and private planes”.

Again, no huge revelation there, either! Women, raise your hand if you didn’t know that men have sex on the brain. Uh huh, that’s what I thought. And now we know it’s literally true!

Doctor Brizendine goes on to say:

I believe women actually perceive the world differently from men.

No kiddin’. Um, yeah, we already knew that, too. But I guess the thing that makes me laugh right out loud is that someone actually did a study on this and ended up stating the obvious! I mean, haven’t we always known this stuff about each other??? I guess now, though, we have scientific data to back us up when we argue about it.

Now for a serious question: (not)
You know on all those shows like CSI and Law & Order and stuff, when they’re going into a house or an apartment to search for evidence? Yeah, well, how come they’re always using flashlights? I mean, it’s perfectly obvious that the electricity is fully functional, and sometimes it’s even daytime and the drapes are open and they STILL have to use their little flashlights to see! Why don’t they just turn the lights on?!?! I’m sure you now see how extremely busy I’ve been pondering these very important matters, right? I know everyone else wonders about the same things. I’m just the one who is brave enough (or stupid enough ) to ask the question. Yeah, I know what you’re thinkin’. You’re thinkin’ ……

LOL!! But really … don’t they make light switches that actually work on those sets or what???

  1. OMG some scientists need to go out and actually spend time with members of the opposite sex. Imagine the money that study cost?! TO TELL US WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW! Wow. The duh-factor was way up on that one!

  2. Oh.My.God. Someone else who wonders why CSI agents always use flashlights. I can only think they do it for dramatic effect, hoping we will suspend disbelief. It irks me to no end. TURN ON THE LIGHTS!!!!

  3. Why is it so amazing that women and men are so different? I know my wife and I are completely different levels. She reacts in such an emotional way, while I tend to see that I react in such a practical way. Yes, it’s so opposite.
