Back to the Future
So … I see that South Dakota has taken a big step in trying to turn back the hands of time in order to secure a more “moral” future. I would love to hear what you think about it. Me? I’m not hard-and-fast pro-choice. Nor am I against it in all cases. While I do not believe in abortion as a form of birth control (far from it!!!), and absolutely consider life sacred, I do not believe it is the Government’s job or right to regulate what women do with their bodies. If Roe v. Wade is eventually destined to be overturned, then I am very scared. Where will it end? And why is it almost all men who make these decisions for women?? And if a woman will be forbidden by law to have an abortion unless her life is in danger, are they then going to start prosecuting women who don’t get the kind of prenatal care the Government thinks is appropriate?? Will they start outlawing certain kinds of childbirth as being “unsafe”, i.e.: water birth, home birth, etc.?? Once they gain even a small foothold, they will steal all our rights as women over what we do before, during and after becoming pregnant. It’s not right! It scares me.
That’s how I feel.
How do you feel?

I don’t know that anyone is honestly pro-abortion. I am definitely pro-choice. Some of the stuff that is in the SD law is downright fucked up and misogynistic. (sp?) Women cannot get an abortion after rape or incest? Clearly a man’s idea. Because you know, women would pretend to be raped to get the abortion.
I will be donating my $$ to anyone who make sure that Roe v Wade is not overturned. This steering of a Christian Only America is very frightening.

I am a bit disturbed by this as well. Although I don’t believe that it has anything to do with a “Christian America” I think it has more to do with not seperating church and state.
I am pro-choice, and while I could not ever have an abortion, I do not hold anyone else to my standards and I think that others should always have the right to choose…its too bad that opinion isn’t more widely recognized.
