In Honor of Ruthie
My cousin Ruthie died last Thursday night, peacefully in her sleep. She had been very ill, so for her it was a huge blessing to go Home to her family who had passed before her. For the rest of us, it is so very sad. She will be greatly missed.
Her mother and my grandfather were brother and sister. Mom and Ruthie were 1st cousins, and looked almost exactly alike. Really the only obvious differences between them were their hair (Mom was blonde, Ruthie was dark), and maybe their smiles, but they both had the kindest, sweetest, most generous and loving spirits you’d ever imagine, and their faces completely lit up when they smiled. They both adored their families, and lived first and foremost for them.
Ruthie and Hollie (Hollis, her husband) had 3 children - Susan, and twins Jim and Joan. Jimmy and I became good buds during High School, and have continued to be close ever since. He is only 2 years older than I, and he and his wife had a son the same year Ryan was born, so those 2 became close, also. It was, and is, very cool. I love him a lot. He is a dear, sweet man. It is his daughter and son-in-law who bought Mom’s house, filling it once again with the love and laughter of a family, as their son, Nolan, was born just 2 months later.
Ruthie was the axis of her family, as Mom was ours. I know how easy it is to fly aimlessly out of control after the person who kept you grounded is gone. I pray for all of them. I love all of them. I hope they know I am here for them.
Please, if you can, take a minute and read about the exceptional woman who made this world a brighter place. I know Mama was there to greet her as she entered the gates of heaven.
God bless, Ruthie. I love you.

Hi Leigh! I feel bad for you and yours, but happy for Aunt Ruthie. She’s where we all belong. Love you. I will get back to blogging very soon… maybe even this afternoon ^_^
