Gross and Sweet
Do you ever wonder if the Earth is trying to tell us something? Like …. “stop raping me” …. or …. “stop ravaging me”?? I do. I mean, doesn’t it seem just a bit strange to you that there are soooo many natural disasters happening all the time? I have this vision of the Earth saying enough is enough, now let’s see how YOU like it! I feel so heartbroken for the people of Pakistan. 18,000 dead. I can’t even imagine. One minute they’re all alive and doing they’re everyday thing, the next they’re dead from a killer quake. I think an earthquake is the scariest natural disaster there is. There is no warning for them, so no one can prepare. I remember once when a small quake hit Colorado. It was very early in the morning, but Tony had already gone to work. I was asleep in our waterbed. Next thing I knew, I was being awakened by the bed moving, and thought Tony had come home for some reason and was getting back into bed. When I looked over at his side, no one was there. I was seriously freaked. It wasn’t until later that day that I learned it had been an earthquake. I was sure glad it hadn’t been any worse! Made me think about how vulnerable we all are to the power of Nature. I’ve always kind of wondered why it is that so many people choose to live on one of the most major fault lines in the world (California, of course). But then again, denial is a wonderful place to live. *smirk*
Do you ever watch the National Geographic Channel? Oh, it is soo good! But some of the stuff they show is downright gross!! Last night we were watching a show about “Extreme Encounters”, and one of them was when people eat all kinds of dead bugs, larvae and worms, prepared as gourmet food. *GAG*
Then they switched to places around the world where people eat LIVE things! Like in Thailand where they eat live octapus! OMG, they have to eat them quickly and chew really hard to keep them from attaching their tentacles to their tongues, mouths and throats! Can you say SICK!!! Then there were the people in a jungle who went hunting for grubs - yes, GRUBS! And ate them alive! They said they are sweet, like store-bought milk. Ummm …. I don’t THINK so!! ![]()
Okay, enough of the disgusting stuff. Now for something way cute and adorable. Cheyenne and Daisy have both learned to open the back door, which I love because they can let themselves out. The only bad thing is they can’t get back in. Well, the other day Cheyenne had gone out back and wanted in really bad. She was whining like she does (it is soo cute, she just wants to be with us all the time!), so Daisy went out to the back porch and opened the door for her!
Now fast-forward to today. Cheyenne once again had let herself out. I don’t remember hearing her whine - not until I went into the bathroom, that is. But just before that, I thought to myself that it had been a while since I’d seen Daisy. In fact, I checked under the kitchen table on my way to the bathroom to see if she was there (her favorite place to sleep), but she wasn’t. Oh well, I thought. I’m sure she’s sleeping somewhere. So when I came out of the bathroom, I was going to go let Cheyenne back in (cuz she was breakin’ my heart!), and when I turned the corner onto the porch, there was Daisy, lying on the floor directly in front of the door, just waiting. She had tried to get the door open, but it slammed shut tight when Cheyenne went out, so she couldn’t get it open. But she wasn’t going to leave her friend, no matter what, so she stayed there until I finally showed up to let Cheyenne in. Bless her sweet heart! Isn’t that just the cutest and sweetest thing? Awww, my doggies. They’re the best!!
Now, last but certainly not least, look what Tony found in our tree the other day …..
This is a baby owl, perched upon our big ol’ tree out front. It was sooo cute!! It would follow us with its eyes whenever we moved.
Here’s another of the little cutie! Talk about being well-camouflaged! He looked just like the tree bark! I don’t know if he’s still there; he disappeared from that branch, but he may have simply moved up higher. I hope so!!
Well, that’s about it for now. Hope ya’ll are smiling and having a GREAT Sunday! ![]()

Oh, the baby owl is such a cutie! I had to show him to Jani, who loves all kinds of birds.

Glad to see you post again. Your design is loverly, as usual.
Pics of the owl are a HOOT! (pun intended) lol
As to Dell (a post of yours earlier), I wouldn’t buy a $20 dollar bill from them for a dime, that’s what “I” think of them. :รพ
CUL as I am getting things packed for the hospital, and “stuff”. Take care of YOU… (((HUGZ))) xoxox

Whew! I finally got registered and signed in! I love the National Geograhic channel also the learning channel. I saw a special about Calderas. Huge volcanoes. Yellowstone is one and is expected to have a major destructive eruption in the next decade or so. Hmmmm, where do you live?

I have wondered of late if the reason we are having so many natural disasters is because of the global warming trend. Did you ever watch “The Day After Tomorrow”? It resembles what is going on now and that scares me.

Wow Leigh, I’m so glad to see you (as in your posting a comment on my Blog), as it’s been a coons age since you’ve posted a new entry on your Blog.
I really hope you are feeling better as the days go by, and maybe can put things behind you and look forward to the holidays coming up. I know from experience that some days I feel like the windshield, and some days I feel like the bug that hit it! You know?
Take care my friend, (((((((HUGS)))))))
