Sisters, Cousins and Mom

I’m sorry it’s taken a while for me to get back here. My sister is getting better - slowly. The pneumonia is being stubborn, as is the fluid retention in her body, but they’re gaining on it. Unfortunately, something else has cropped up; they found that she is severely anemic. So severe, in fact, that the Doc said if the oral medication doesn’t work soon, he’ll have to give her a blood transfusion. He also said the anemia could account for the swelling and shortness of breath. *sigh* I just wish they’d find out once and for all what’s going on and FIX it! She remains in the hospital, and will be there for the next few days. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, will you? I would be so grateful. ((hugs))

My other sister received an email from a cousin of ours out in California yesterday. She is my mother’s 1st cousin, but I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting her. I remember Mom talking about her a lot; she and my mother and some other cousins all grew up around each other. Anyway, she wrote the most beautiful words about Mom and I wanted to share them with all of you just so you can get a better feel for why I talk about what a very special person she was:

“I want to tell you of my profound sadness about your mother’s death. She was such a fine and noble person. I remember her in her youth - she was stunningly beautiful. She had a gorgeous, dazzling smile. She was dating guys when Ruthie, Marilou, and I were playing dolls and paperdolls. She was older than we were. My Mother told me that Beverly had to make a choice when two suitors had come to see her at the same time. She chose your father. I thought that was a very interesting situation and the stuff that novels are made of. She was a very lovely person in every way. No doubt you miss her very much.”

Needless to say, my sisters and I all cried bittersweet tears. I miss her so very, very much.

Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. They are more important to me than you know! (((HUGS)))
