I fervently request prayer for my sister Kelly. She is very, very ill. So far all we know is that her body filled with fluid, including her lungs, and was very close to complete heart failure when the ambulance got to her. Please, PLEASE pray for her. She is the nicest, kindest, most gentle and loving human being you’d ever want to meet. Thank you, my friends. THANK YOU SO MUCH! (((hugs)))

UPDATE - 1:10 a.m., June 16: She was brought here by ambulance from the town in which she lives, and we are very glad. She has severe pneumonia (her lungs were full of fluid), and as a result of them working so hard, she has sustained some heart damage. How much damage we do not know yet. Tomorrow they will do an echocardiogram, and will also do a more extensive test for hypothyroidism, as per my other sister’s and my request. After staying up very late last night researching severe swelling in the extremities, I found that it can be caused by an untreated hypothyroid condition, which in turn can cause congestive heart failure! Her last blood tests were done about a month ago, and she was told at that time that her thyroid tested low, but “not low enough to require meds”. Yeah, right. Well, it just so happens, in women especially, that while one slighty low reading in one person can be exactly that, just slighty low, it can actually be extremely low for someone else! Now, it took me exactly 10 minutes to find that out simply by doing some research online. Why didn’t her doctor know that??? And WHY did her doctor send a woman with extreme fluid retention in all of her extremities home!! Shouldn’t she have actually tried to find out WHY???? And didn’t she know that much fluid can catastrophically infiltrate the lungs EXTREMELY fast??? *sigh* As you can tell, I am more than a little angry, and you can bet I will be asking these questions of the doctors!! Thankfully, though, the doctor who was on call for new admits to the hospital tonight was VERY nice, and extremely accommodating when we requested the more extensive thyroid tests be done. Hallelujah! Finally a doctor who listens to us “little people”.
