No, Really, It’s Me!

Oh my goodness, Theo, I don’t want anything happening to you, so I’ll get my butt in gear and post something! LOL

OK, don’t be mad at me, but … well … I was visiting my new grandson on Sunday, and I got so busy holding him and admiring him and ooooing and awwwwing over him that I forgot to take pictures! It wasn’t until I was halfway home (they live 30 minutes from here) that I realized what I had done - or rather, NOT done! I’m sorry!!! I promise that I won’t forget next time!! Just take it from me - he’s PRECIOUS!! Even more precious than he was right after he was born, if that’s possible! ;) He’s gaining weight quickly, which I knew he would, cuz he has such big hands to grow into! ;) They still don’t have the results of the hemophilia test, but it should be sometime this week that they hear. The hospital had to send his cord blood to the Mayo Clinic for the genetic testing required to find out if he will have the disorder or not. Positive thoughts would be much appreciated!

My son (Brayden’s daddy) cracks me up - he’s SO protective of the baby, and reminds me of myself when I had him! It almost gets on my nerves! LOL I just look at him and say, “Now you know what I meant all those times when I said ‘just wait until you have kids of your own, then you’ll understand’”. And he does. ;) It’s a wonderfully satisfying “I told you so” kind of feeling! LOL

My son David has been sick for a few weeks; it began about 3 weeks before I got sick. We all thought it was allergy-induced bronchitis, but started wondering exactly what was going on when he began exhibiting some strange symptoms. I had him to the doctor three times in a 2 1/2 week period, and by that third time I told them to find out what the heck was going on!! So they took some chest x-rays which turned out fine, thank goodness, and drew some blood for testing. A little over a week later (a week ago yesterday) I got a call from the doctor; she called herself to let me know that he has West Nile Virus! Needless to say, I was shocked! Last year was the year that everyone and his brother thought they had West Nile because it was so rampant, but this year it had tapered off dramatically. Quite honestly, West Nile hadn’t even entered my mind. The Doc said that David was her first confirmed case so far this year. So, he has a ways to go before he is 100% again. He’s already lost 15 pounds, but that seems to have plateaued. As my friend Debbie said, thank goodness he’s a tall, big guy and can afford to lose that much weight! The fevers have stopped, too, which makes me feel much less anxious (I hate fevers!). Right now, the only lingering symptom which he seems to have is fatigue; he is always tired, and sleeps a lot! He tires easily, and usually comes home from class (he’s in college) and goes straight to bed for a nap. From what I’ve read, the fatigue can last up to 18 months! The good news is that the younger you are, the better you recover from this virus, so I don’t think that will be the case for him (crossing fingers).

It looks like the closing for the sale of Mom’s house will be sometime between the 24th and the 30th. My cousin’s daughter and her husband are definitely buying it, which my sisters and I are thrilled about! Their first baby is due in November, so there will be the sounds of new life in that house once again.

My daughter started Middle School on the 26th, and LOVES it! I am so happy! And relieved! lol She hated her last year of elementary school SO much, and was more than ready to move on! She’s just too mature for elementary school, but this new, more “grown-up” environment suits her very well!

There were 2 army helicopters flying overhead this morning when my daughter I were leaving for school. She didn’t pay much attention to them, but I stood and watched them fly over before getting in the car. When I got in, I told her that they were army copters, and she said, “Oh no! That’s not a good!”, and was actually alarmed by it. I assured her that it meant nothing. But her reaction is a very sad sign of the times, don’t you think? How heartbreaking for her generation, that they have had to grow up with terrorism, ensuing war, and color-coded terror alerts. *sigh*

Now, last but certainly not least, I would like to ask you all for your most positive energy and sincere prayers for Miss CJ - she is really going through the fires right now, and can use all the help she can get! If you don’t know her, then please take the time to read some of her blog and get to know her - you won’t be sorry. She is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever “met”, and most certainly the strongest! She has gone through more than most of us can even imagine, and has never lost her sense of humor, her positive outlook, or her compassion for others! Regardless of how much she is having to endure, she always has the time to leave a comment, send an email or mail a card, just to make someone else feel better. Now it’s OUR turn to make HER feel better!

Thanks, everyone - for EVERYTHING! (((((huggggzzz))))) smily

Hiya’ Leigh ) Good to see you here.
I’m sending loads of positive thoughts for sweet, little Brayden.
Yep, West Nile sounds just like our (Australia’s) Ross River fever. My Aunt and Uncle contracted RRF (while fishing in the north-east of the state) about 18-19 months ago and they are still not quite 100 %. They’re both in their early 70’s, though. Like you said, Leigh, the younger you are the sooner you recover.
David will be back to his old-self before you know it, my friend. I’ll keep my fingers crossed too.
I’ll head over and say “hi” to CJ now.
    See Ya’!! )) *waving*

Wow — I’m not even sure where to start! It’s so nice to catch up on all you’ve been doing and with your family, though I’m really sorry to hear about your son. A possible 18 months of fatigue? Oy. Our provincial government has been running ads on how to avoid West Nile Virus for a few months now; they were obviously expecting a lot of cases. I’m glad it’s been diagnosed and that he’s on his way to feeling better.

Good news about the sale of your Mom’s home. I think it’s wonderful there were will be a young family there to enjoy it. I’m sure that would make her happy too.

Now, about that little bundle of kissable grandson of yours. I can’t think of a better gift for all of you. To ask if you’re enjoying grandmotherhood (is that a word?) would be silly.

And, finally, CJ is always and will always be in my thoughts and heart. You’ve described her beautifully.

    Have a lovely day!
