This ‘n That

There is a brand new virus running rampant out there; I’ve already received several emails with it attached as a .zip file, but of course did not open them. The subject line will vary, but 3 of the emails I received said “Test”; the others either said “hello” or “hi”. The body of the email said either:

The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment

or

The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment

In other words, it presents itself as an error and tries to make you think you can open the attachment to view the email the way it was supposed to be sent. ANYway, I just wanted to warn you guys. You can follow the link up there - *pointing up at the beginning of the post* - to read all about what it is and what it does.

Oh, and don’t worry about me losing my temper tomorrow when I call the school; I was upset when I posted that entry, but I’m actually extremely diplomatic in my dealings with people. ;)

Also, just disregard my entry about all that emotional trauma stuff. If it wasn’t for all the amazing and caring comments ya’ll left, I’d just delete it. It really isn’t all that important in the grand scheme of things.

I received it twice and thankfully didn’t open it.

Have a good, bug-free day, Leigh!

thanks for the heads up on that one, I also have recieved about four of them last night. Rule of thumb…never open attachments unless you know the sender. *winks*

    Good Luck today.

I’ve received eleven emails with this virus. The clue for me was not to open a zip file from someone that I didn’t know. When I looked insice and saw the .scr file, I knew. Norton is catching these now with the latest update.
