Just Shhtuff
I want to thank you all for your sincere and very thoughtful comments on the previous entry; it touches me deeply that you care enough to put so much time and thought into offering your heartfelt support and advice. Believe me, I will take it to heart!
Now, on to more interesting things other than my problems … *wink*
I was at my Mother’s yesterday, and Miss Callie came with me. Mom asked me to retrieve something for her from the back bedroom, which was the room I shared with my sister while growing up. Well, until she moved into the “one-person room for the oldest sister at home” bedroom, that is. I even moved into that room after both of my sisters had left home, and only because it was the “cool” room — the other one was much bigger. But I digress ….
My daughter came with me to get what Mom had asked for, and she began looking around while I searched out the item I was sent to retrieve. She spied one of my most favorite dolls while growing up — I was really into dolls as a kid. Every single Christmas and birthday I would ask for a new doll. I simply loved playing house! ;) So anyway, she saw “Freckles” — a bigger doll, standing about 2 1/2 feet tall, with eyes that open and close and a hard body with stiff arms and legs (but they do move at the shoulders and hips). She used to have lovely long hair until I decided it would look much nicer short, and cut it WAY short. *giggle* Kids. Why do we always have to cut someone’s or something’s hair while growing up? LOL So anyway, she asked if she could bring her home. I was kind of surprised, because compared to the other dolls she has, this one is like a Neanderthal woman. LOL But I told her sure, she could bring it home. Oh my …. you would’ve thought I had just given her the most beautiful and expensive doll on earth — she was SO EXCITED! As we drove home, she told me that Freckles is the best and most special doll she’s ever, ever had, because she used to be mine when I was little. So at this point I almost had to pull the car over because my eyes were beginning to tear up. I’ve always known my daughter has a sentimental heart, but to see the excitement on her face and hear it in her voice, simply because she was getting a doll I used to play with …. well, it moved me beyond words, to say the least. Don’t I have the coolest daughter? ;)
As you see, I’ve changed the layout again. I found these gorgeous graphics at Blogfrocks while cruising different sites a while back. I stumbed across it again yesterday when going through my huge amount of graphic files, and wondered why in the heck I had never used it — it’s beautiful! Believe it or not, this set is the first one which has required me to use tables, so I had to change a bunch of stuff in a lot of templates to get it right. I almost didn’t do it because of that reason, then thought it was stupid not to use something so neat just because it would take a little more time and effort to implement, so voila! Here it is! Besides, I learned a lot doing it, which is always good. ;) I sure wish I could do designs this intricate!
Drats. I feel a headache coming on. Must be the weather — at least that’s what my barometer, otherwise known as a head, is telling me. I better go take some of my trusty Excedrin before it gets worse. I hope you all have a fabulous Monday (even though that is SUCH an oxymoron! lol). ((((Hugs)))) all around!

I absolutely love kids. They are my favorite people. And things that happen like your daughter’s request for the doll and her comments about it being yours are the reason. Children can make a dark day bright.
Congratulations on a good day.

It is entries like this one that really make me wish for a daughter. I can imagine how that must’ve felt to see and hear her excitement.
I was a big House Player, too, and had a lovely collection of dolls ranging in size from Kiddles (3 inches) to walking dolls (3 feet).
What a nice thing to pass along to her, Leigh.

You have the coolest daughter because you are the coolest mum. Where do you think she gets her good genes from? So much of you is inside Callie and she will grow up to be a beautiful person, just like you are.
I love your new look - amazing graphic. If I had to attempt something like that, I would have a permanent headache Scrap that, I don’t think my computer will be in one piece.

I still have one of my dolls from childhood. She’s tucked away in my wardrobe, naked, with hair a touch shorter than it used to be. lol She too, stands about 2 1/2 feet tall, and does exactly what Freckles does. Moves at the shoulders and hips. Just enough to make her walk. Yes, she was my very first walking doll. Her name is Cindy! One day I’m gonna get Cindy some new clothes and give her a place on my bed. ;)
)) Kids…aren’t they the bestest!!! ;) I’m so happy Freckles has another beautiful little girl to play with. ;)
I can just imagine the look on Callie’s face while she was telling you how special Freckles is.
Keep smiling!

That’s just awesome. I think this proves that kids don’t need the most expensive toys on the market to be happy. They can understand about sentimental value.
