I’m Here, Really I Am ;)
Hi Everyone.
I want to apologize for not posting here and not visiting your blogs over the last couple of days. They’ve been busy days, and I’ve also had a headache that won’t go away for the last two days. Fun, fun. It’s the weather and all this damn wind that makes it hurt. But anyway, I just hope you don’t feel I was ignoring you. I would never do that.
Well, we did it. We adopted a new little boy!
If I can get my digital to work (keep your fingers crossed), I’ll snap a pic of him tomorrow so you can see him. He’s 11 weeks old today, and he’s a Black Lab. He is soooo cute! It’s weird, though, because he’s as big as our Cockers, so it’s hard to remember he’s just a baby! LOL And a baby he is! He’s SO clumsy! LOL And he’s still learning how to eat solid foods, so sometimes when he’s trying to chew it falls right out of his mouth. LOL But he is one adorable, sweet little boy, and Riley is absolutely on cloud nine! He’s SO happy to have a another dog who will actually play with him! lol The girls (our Cockers) only tolerate him and never really play with him, so this is great! He’s having tons of fun with him!
Since we got him on Hubby’s birthday (yesterday, the 14th), and since he’s going to be Hubby’s hunting dog, my daughter and I let him name the new family member. ;) His father’s name is Black Magic, and his Grandfather’s name was Gumbo from Black Forest, so his name is going to be Black Thunder Master of 4 (since he’s our 4th dog, and came to live with us on the 14th, which was Hubby’s 43rd birthday *grin*), and will be called Thunder. Whaddya think?
I know that he was meant to live with us, since he was looking for a home the very same time we decided we needed a 4th canine family member. It just all happened so fast and smoothly, and he is adapting extremely well. Now if I can just get him housetrained, the hard part will be over. LOL I hate that part! He’s already showing strong signs of being an excellent Retriever. Today when Callie was throwing tennis balls around, he immediately went and got them and brought them back to her.
Awesome.
The Girls don’t like him at all, especially Sophie (affectionately called The Old Girl). She REALLY doesn’t like him being here, but she’s stubborn that way. She is very food obsessive, so she guards it constantly and has a fit if he comes near it while she is there. We gave him his own bowl, but Sophie (also affectionately called Fatty) goes and eats out of it, too! LOL Quite the dog she is. ;)
Well, I guess I’ve rambled on long enough about my dogs. LOL Oh my gosh, I almost forgot to tell you this — poor Riley had an accident tonight! Sound asleep, he was awakened by the sound of Hubby’s pickup pulling into the driveway, and he immediately ran for the middle landing on the staircase where there is a window he can look out of. He was so sleepy that I don’t think he could really see straight, and he slipped while running and his little head came down really hard on one of the stairs. I quickly grabbed him up to make sure he was okay, and he was like … dazed or something …. and he just stared straight ahead for a few seconds, then started crying (whining). OMG, I was so scared! I thought he had really hurt himself! I started bawling like a baby and was trying to comfort him at the same time. Thankfully he’s perfectly fine. In fact, he recovered much faster than I did. LOL Oh gosh, you just never realize how much you love your animals until something happens like that, ya’ know? I mean, you know you love them, but you don’t realize how much until something happens to them. Does that make sense?
Okay, now I’m REALLY finished rambling about my animals. LOL Hope I didn’t bore you too much! ;) Hope ya’ll have a fantastic Tuesday!
((((huggles))))

Oh, a black lab - how great! They get really big really fast, don’t they? Our lab mix isn’t quite so big, but he’s lab all over otherwise. Once piece of advice: hide the socks!
And happy birthday to your husband! Hope he had a great day!

I can’t wait to see pictures of the new puppy. I’m jealous of you having so many animals, but it’s fun to live vicariously through your stories of them.

Oh Leigh, I just luuuv labradors.
)) They have such a beautiful nature. I had a lab cross when I was a kid, and he (Sanday) was my bestest friend. I could talk to him and he’d sit there looking at me; listen, and I swear he understood every word I said. ;)
)Every time I see lab puppies on the TV I go….’ooooh, awwwww soooo cute!’lol Looking forward to doing just that when you post his photo.
Can’t wait to see some pics of Black Thunder.
