Open Your Home?
I will be heading for my mother’s soon, but wanted to wish you all a happy day first. I hope it brings you many smiles.
On a not-so-lighter note, I was cruising the ‘net yesterday and landed at PETsMART, looking at sweaters for Mr. Riley (Christmas, don’tcha know *wink*), and began looking at the other sections of their site. Did you know that in North America, 20,000 pets per DAY are euthanized because they are homeless? That’s … absolutely staggering! And completely unacceptable. Please, be a responsible pet owner and have your pet spayed or neutered; and if you aren’t a pet owner, then please consider opening up your heart and home to an animal who wants only a warm place to sleep, food to eat, and a human to love. There are so many looking for homes. Visit your nearest animal shelter or humane society and find that perfect pet you were meant for!
Okay, I’m finished preaching. ;) Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for the good wishes. Have a nice time at your Mother’s
I adopted a cat (Gracie) last year, after our 14 year old adopted cat (Kelly, and she was such a love) died. I will always adopt animals - it makes me feel good, and I’m sure it makes them feel good as well. Too many wonderful animals find themselves homeless for one reason or another.

Hope you had a lovely visit with your mum, Leigh. I’m off to see mine today, too. ;)
Keep smiling, sweet lady. *mmwah*

I think I’ve done my part in giving homeless animals a home, considering I have 9. All spayed or neutered. Have a wonderful day with your mom.

Even purebreds are available at shelters which is something I’m not sure everyone is aware of. All my critters have come from shelters and they always will.
Puppy mills….no, I won’t get started.
Hope you have a nice visit today.

Our new puppy and his two sisters were found on the side of a highway by two ladies that run a cat rescue organization. He is a wonderful dog, full of affection and energy. I am so glad we had the opportunity to adopt him. We will definitely have him neutered as soon as he is old enough.

I’m really big on adopting from the SPCA. I can’t think of a good reason not to. Being hoity-toity and wanting a pet one can show and breed does not, to me, qualify as a good reason. All the other excuses I’ve heard are moot. You can find puppies and kittens at the shelter. They’re not all animals that are inherently bad and had to be given up. I’d guess that 99.9% of the animals that are waiting in shelters are good. They just need the love and attention to achieve their full potential.
