Hey ya’ll.
Happy Halloween! ![]()
It snowed here last night. Not a whole lot — just a skiff — but enough to turn things white. I hate the cold, but I love the snow. In a perfect world, it would snow in the summer. ;) I thought it only right to create a design in honor of our first snowfall.
I made the graphic from a painting entitled “Winter Dreams” by Josephine Wall. I just love her work!
There’s a kind of superstitious saying around here that says we will have as many snows as the number of the date when the first snow falls. Did that make sense? LOL So that means we’re going have 30 snows this winter. I guess we’ll see if the saying holds true. ;)
I must admit, after doing the Halloween trick-or-treat thing with my kids for the last 24 years, I am positively thrilled that this year is our first year “off”. ;) No more walking out in the bitter cold or driving all over the city to family members’ houses. Ahhhh … feels great! ;) My daughter and a group of her friends will be trick-or-treating in our neighborhood and that’s it. She’s fine with that, especially since it’s so darn cold out! I think it’s a rule that it must be horribly cold here for Halloween. I can’t even remember the last time it was even kind of warm on Halloween. Right now (10:30am) it is 25 degrees(F) — just imagine how cold it will be tonight! ![]()
I have some kind of cold-sore throat-congested-sneezing-coughing-runny nose-headachey thing going on. Basically, I feel like caca. I took NyQuil last night and that didn’t even help.
I just hope I didn’t give anything to my Mom yesterday when I was with her.
I didn’t realize I was getting sick until later in the day after I had returned home. Riley isn’t feeling very well today, either. He threw up this morning.
Poor little guy.
My son David called last night asking for my chili recipe.
He said he wanted to make it and surprise his girlfriend when she got home from her night lab at school. Isn’t that sweet?
And Dave doesn’t cook, so I thought that was really cool! I must’ve taught him something about being thoughtful and romantic after all, eh? ![]()
Well, I’m going to go get yet another throat lozenge and get ready to go pick up my daughter (she only has a 1/2 day of school today). I’ll be glad when I get home and can stay in. Ya’ll have a GREAT day and a very HAPPY and SPOOKY Halloween!!! ![]()

I’m a Southern California native. In fact, I’ve lived in California my whole life, up until now. My idea of winter is a cold 60 degrees. Brr.
Now that I’m in Canada, I’m realizing exactly what it is to feel as if your chest if freezing inside your body!

Sorry you’re sick. Theraflu helps me. Mix it with honey and hot water and it helps you snuggle in and sleep. It takes the edge off of teh fever and chills. Wow, everybody was talking about hot chocolate, so now I have a pan of homemade old fashioned hot chocolate on the stove awaiting company. I have only had 6 trick-or-treaters so far!!

Oh Leigh, I’m so sorry you are not feeling well.
I tell you what, around here when Gary & now Mallory, gets the least little sniffle or hack… it’s off to Hell-mart and stock up on ThermaFlu. That stuff tastes so nasty, but omigawd… it will knock the socks off of any flu bug. It’s lemon flavored and like I said… it’s a nassy nassy taste… but it works!
Keeping the fingers crossed that you feel better real soon. Get lots of this…
And so… on another note, I did NOT dump out my cookies… they are very much ENABLED, and yet… I get that 1 total. Oh well…
