Cozy Goodness
We haven’t had a single trick-or-treater yet. It’s just too darn cold out there! Plus there are lots of activities set up for kids all around town, so I’m sure their parents would rather partake of them than walk the streets and freeze to death! ;)
I’m here all alone. My daughter is over at my niece’s helping with the baby. They went shopping, too, and bought Nevaeh a new toy and outfit.
Hubby is still at work. I’ve just been sitting here in the dark, all comfy and cozy under my blankie in the recliner, sipping raspberry hot chocolate and watching cheesy horror flicks on TV. I love nights like this. ;)
I hope you’re comfy and cozy wherever you are tonight, too.
Halloween, Snow, Chili and Caca
Hey ya’ll.
Happy Halloween! ![]()
It snowed here last night. Not a whole lot — just a skiff — but enough to turn things white. I hate the cold, but I love the snow. In a perfect world, it would snow in the summer. ;) I thought it only right to create a design in honor of our first snowfall.
I made the graphic from a painting entitled “Winter Dreams” by Josephine Wall. I just love her work!
There’s a kind of superstitious saying around here that says we will have as many snows as the number of the date when the first snow falls. Did that make sense? LOL So that means we’re going have 30 snows this winter. I guess we’ll see if the saying holds true. ;)
I must admit, after doing the Halloween trick-or-treat thing with my kids for the last 24 years, I am positively thrilled that this year is our first year “off”. ;) No more walking out in the bitter cold or driving all over the city to family members’ houses. Ahhhh … feels great! ;) My daughter and a group of her friends will be trick-or-treating in our neighborhood and that’s it. She’s fine with that, especially since it’s so darn cold out! I think it’s a rule that it must be horribly cold here for Halloween. I can’t even remember the last time it was even kind of warm on Halloween. Right now (10:30am) it is 25 degrees(F) — just imagine how cold it will be tonight! ![]()
I have some kind of cold-sore throat-congested-sneezing-coughing-runny nose-headachey thing going on. Basically, I feel like caca. I took NyQuil last night and that didn’t even help.
I just hope I didn’t give anything to my Mom yesterday when I was with her.
I didn’t realize I was getting sick until later in the day after I had returned home. Riley isn’t feeling very well today, either. He threw up this morning.
Poor little guy.
My son David called last night asking for my chili recipe.
He said he wanted to make it and surprise his girlfriend when she got home from her night lab at school. Isn’t that sweet?
And Dave doesn’t cook, so I thought that was really cool! I must’ve taught him something about being thoughtful and romantic after all, eh? ![]()
Well, I’m going to go get yet another throat lozenge and get ready to go pick up my daughter (she only has a 1/2 day of school today). I’ll be glad when I get home and can stay in. Ya’ll have a GREAT day and a very HAPPY and SPOOKY Halloween!!! ![]()
Baby Fix
Well, I got my baby fix and boy, was it fun!
I got lots of cuddling time in, and planted many kisses on her soft, sweet, bald head. lol Na, she’s got hair — just not much of it! lol
One funny thing I wanted to tell you about — I was a bit concerned that Riley was going to want to jump on and play with the baby, but I was wrong. LOL He was actually scared to death of her!!
He didn’t know what she was — human or animal — and he was afraid of all the squeaky noises she made. LOL Wherever we were with Nevaeh, he was at the opposite end of the room, hiding. It was too funny! LOL
Lastly, I’ve been seeing the “Which Mythological Form Are You?” quiz all over the place, and saw it again tonight at Digital Daydreaming, so decided to go ahead and take it. These are my results:
Oh So Itty Bitty
Guess who’s here?
It’s my sweet, precious, itty bitty baby niece.
Yep, my baby Nevaeh is here.
Can you tell I’m happy? lol Callie and I are babysitting for a few hours. She (Callie) was so excited when Sarah called to ask us to babysit that she did a cute little victory dance in the livingroom! lol
Ohhh my …. Nevaeh is soooo sweet. She’s so teeny, and so …. uber cuddly.
And she smells so good, just like a baby should.
Ahhhh …. ![]()
Oh, btw, there’s a big brush fire burning about 30 minutes from us. The wind is really blowing hard, too, so it’s making it difficult to fight. There’s also fires now burning up near Boulder and in the Mountains. Thank God it’s supposed to rain/snow tomorrow!
Well, I’m gonna go cuddle my baby some more.
G’night! ![]()
Induced Memories
Check it out — it’s 80 degrees(F) outside right now, but the high tomorrow is only going to be 40. It’s hot and sunny today. Tomorrow will be cold and SNOWY. Go figure. That’s Colorado weather for ya’! I’m so not ready.
You know how a taste, or a smell, or a sound, or the turn of a phrase will bring back a memory in a powerful way? And with it usually comes a powerful feeling and/or emotion, as well? Yeah, well, that just happened to me. My personal time machine is music. There are songs and certain types of music which correlate with every phase of my life. Hearing that music zaps me back in time in a big way. Sometimes it’s ultra wonderful and I just want to linger in it like a sweet dream. Other times it’s not so wonderful and I want out of it as fast as I can make myself leave. It’s like hypnosis — music can make me remember and relive things I thought long-forgotten. Does this happen to you? If so, what does it for you?
