So how are you? Having a good weekend?

I have a cousin to whom my sisters and I were very close while growing up, but have not seen in years and years. Well, that all changed this weekend. She and her 24 year old son came to visit! Sadly, her husband passed away about 6 weeks ago, but she’s always been one to deal with what life gives her and, as per usual, has taken life by the horns and is making the best out of her situation. One of her main priorities was to visit her hometown and her family, and now she has! We all gathered last evening for a reunion, and it was really fun. I told her and my 2 sisters that if they really wanted to reminisce, the three of them should go back into the bedroom and lock me out. LOL You see, that’s what they always did to me when I was a kid. Being the “baby” of the family, they didn’t want me hanging around, so they’d lock the bedroom door so I couldn’t get to them. How mean, huh! *wink*

We’ve had several awesome thunderstorms here this summer, but last night’s storm definitely takes home the gold. WOW! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such heavy rainfall, or a more awesome lightning display! Have you ever seen circular lightning, or lightning which “sparkles” away?? I saw both last night! My daughter and I were the only ones looking when the circular lightning appeared in the sky. It was the kind of thing where you look at the other person and say, “did you just see what I saw??”. And we both did. The bolt appeared in the cloud, formed a circle, and had fingers of lightning coming out from around the edges! It was a fairly big circle, too. Totally cool! Then later, Hubby, Callie and I were riding around looking at the local flooding (which was pretty bad in some areas!), and the rain was so weird! One minute it would be raining so hard you could barely see where you were going, then the next it would suddenly stop, as if someone had shut off a giant water faucet in the sky. Then, a few minutes later, it would start up again just as hard as before. It came in waves like that for 2 hours straight. At one point, I was looking out the car window and saw an amazing cloud-to-ground lightning strike that stayed lit for a good few seconds, kind of flashing all the while, then instead of just … ending …. it sparkled out, exactly like fireworks after they explode and the embers sparkle and shimmer until they go out. It was SO awesome! The whole storm was amazing ….. lightning everywhere (in fact, a house just 2 blocks from us was struck!), and thunder louder than I’ve ever heard before! Crackling thunder, exploding thunder, window-rattling thunder — it was so much FUN! (yeah, I know, I’m weird lol)

My cousin will be leaving in a couple of hours, so I think I’ll go give her a call to say goodbye. I hope you are all enjoying a happy weekend! See ya’ later!

Today my husband paid us an unexpected visit in the middle of the afternoon. He walked through the front door, looked around the room for Miss Callie, then walked over to her and pulled from behind his back an absolutely gorgeous bouquet of long-stemmed pink roses with baby’s breath and fern mixed in. You should have seen my daughter’s face! The happiness … joy … excitement … well, it’s indescribable. She took the flowers, looked up at him and exclaimed, “OH DADDY!” He looked at her and said, “These are for my special baby girl”. *tears* How special is that? I mean … really … what an incredible thing for him to do. He made this birthday one which she will never, ever forget! She was positively giddy!

My parents were divorced, so I never had my father to do those kinds of things for me. It’s something that to this day I miss. I miss not ever knowing that “special” feeling a little girl gets from her daddy. So, for me, seeing this exchange between my daughter and her daddy, and seeing how happy it made her ….. well, I can’t even describe the joy it brought to my heart. I think I must have the most wonderful husband in the world!

Today my daughter turns 11! I can’t believe that 11 years have flown by already! We’ve definitely been blessed by each and every one of them.

I was told once that my daughter is an angel sent to help guide by way while traveling through this life, and I believe it. Now, I know there are those of you who do not believe in miracles, God, or even Angels, but I am here to tell you that my daughter’s birth was, without a doubt, a miracle!

Have you ever seen a bear in your town? You know, climbing the trees? No? Well, then perhaps you should move to Colorado.

It happens all the time along the front range this time of year. Why, you ask? Because this is the time of year when all the fruits and berries growing in people’s yards are ripe and oh so yummy. They wander down out of the mountains, unable to resist the juicy goodness.

We don’t get bears here since we’re too far from the mountains, but we do get deer roaming the streets. Sometimes even antelope. Yeah …. it’s cool living in Colorado. ;)

that my niece is going to have a baby? Yep, I’m going to be a great-aunt. How can that be??? I mean … I’m only 21!! *snicker* Sarah, my niece, is my sister Kelly’s daughter. She is her only child, actually. It seems so strange to say my sister is going to be a grandmother! Eee gads, where has the time gone?? It’s weird, ya’ know? I mean … your sisters are just always your sisters … we never thought about getting old or being grandmothers … we’re just …. kids. lol And now, suddenly, there will be a grandma amongst the 3 of us! Mind-boggling!

ANYway, Sarah’s baby is due October 26th. We already know the baby is a girl. We are all really excited to have a baby in the family again. Up until now, my daughter has been the youngest in the family, and she’s 11 (well, she will be on Friday). I think my daughter is the most excited out of all of us! She’s been after me for years to have another baby. LOL She just can’t understand why when I say “NO WAY!!!”. LOL

The baby’s name will be Nevaeh (pronounced Nevaya). Can anyone guess how Sarah came up with that name? Try and guess before you read any further.

Hint: look at it carefully
