In the revolution and evolution of the
journey to viable solution
the waters are churned into thick, black doubt
as the ground of reason heaves and moans
against the chafing weight of
omnipresent confusion;
and the white light of revelation is
swallowed by the fog of delusion
while the lonely eye of understanding
remains blinded by the darkness
leaving behind on the ledge of thought
only weak and teetering conclusions

Okay, I know there are cycles in life …. I know there are mountains and valleys …. I know that shit happens, but damnit, this is getting to be too freakin’ much! It seems like every single day I’m blogging about something bad that’s happened. *deep sigh*
When I met my husband I was working at a bank. I worked with a girl named Kathy. She is one of the nicest people you’d ever want to know. She had a baby brother. Yes, a baby brother. One of those “uh oh” babies. Mike was something like 20 years younger than she. Oh boy, did she love that boy! She talked about him all the time.
My husband just called me from work where he is finishing up some paperwork. He wanted to tell me something, and I could tell by the sound of his voice it wasn’t good. Mike was killed in a car accident this morning on a country road. He ran a stop sign and t-boned another car. My heart actually hurts. My friend Kathy …. I can’t even imagine what she is going through. And the rest of her family …. oh God. And Mike …. a young man in his mid-twenties with his whole life ahead of him.
My heart has been breaking so much lately ….. I’m not sure how much of it is left that can break anymore. That … might be a good thing.
Cycles. They totally suck.

Hello, my name is Leigh, and I’m a Peach-Papayaholic.
Yes, that’s right, I am addicted to Fruit Works Peach Papaya juice drinks. I must have them. At all times I must have at least a couple in the fridge, or I start feeling more thirsty than I really am.
Am I the only one?? I wonder if I can find a support group or something. ;)

I’ve had absolutely nothing to say all day. lol Well, nothing worth blogging about, that is. It was a good day (for a change *smirk*). I actually have a real sense of excitement in the pit of my belly, and I don’t even know why. I’m hoping it’s because something wonderful is going to happen! *crossing fingers* Maybe I’ve just had too much caffeine. lol
Did you ever lose a pet as a kid? Devastating, isn’t it. My daughter had her best friend over to play this evening. They had a grand time, as usual. (I just love listening to them giggle and laugh!) Well, it was time for Mandy to go home and her parents came to pick her up. Shortly after she left the phone rang, and it was her calling for my daughter. I could tell she’d been crying. She called to tell Callie that when they got home, her kitty cat was lying in the middle of the street. He’d been run over by a car in the short amount of time it took for her parents to come pick her up and drive home again. I feel sooo sorry for her. She really loved that cat. His name was Mole. They named him that because he had a little black spot on his face that looked like a mole. Poor kitty.
I couldn’t help but listen in on my daughter’s end of the conversation. She was so supportive and loving. It made me feel really good inside to hear her being such a good friend. Made me proud, too.
It’s gratifying as a parent to see first-hand that some of the stuff you’ve been trying to drill into your kids has actually sunk in! ;)
Yes, as you can see, I’ve changed the layout yet again. lol I really had fun making this one! Sorry if my constant changes make you dizzy!
Guess that’s about all my brain is going to spill forth at this time. ;) Have a great Thursday, everyone!

My sister Kelly called tonight to tell me she had spoken with our cousin Marilyn. We decided that since none of us have seen her in so long, we (my 2 sisters and I) are going to set up a time when we can go visit her and have an all-girls weekend or something.
We began talking about other things and eventually got around to talking about what had happened to her in the hospital in Ft. Collins back in January. What happened, you ask? ;) Well, to make a very long story short, she had been airlifted from here to there with a possible heart attack, which turned out to be a viral infection which had settled around her heart. Thankfully, even though some heart muscle was injured, it will heal. Anyway, during the time she was there they were having a very difficult time discovering what the problem was. She had to have a whole slew of tests, including both an upper and lower GI scope — in other words, one of them was a colonoscopy. When they took her down for the tests she overheard them talking about how busy they were and that they were really getting backed up. A nurse began running a line to sedate her, but for some reason it wasn’t working right, so she decided to try the other hand. Before she even got started on it, the doctor doing the procedure began! It ended up with them doing both scopes without any sedation whatsoever! She was in tremendous pain, and was even crying. They didn’t even notice. Well, when she got back up to her room she was very upset, so we asked for the patient advocate. When she arrived, Kelly gave her a full account of what had happend. Two of the nurses on duty that day came in her room and told her that what had happened just wasn’t right at all, and seemed very upset, too. Then the nurse practitioner who works for the doctor who did the procedure came in and wrapped Kelly in her arms and apologized profusely, and even said “It must have been awful!”.
About a week after she got home from the hospital, a representative from the gastroenterology dept. at the hospital called to apologize yet again, and to make sure she was doing alright. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, and finally decided to consult an attorney. That was a couple of months ago. She contacted him again last week to see if he had received the medical files from the hospital yet. Know what he told her? That there was absolutely no record of any of that happening and, in fact, the gastroenterology dept. denied even seeing her!! Plus the patient advocate’s office has no record of her ever having filed a complaint, either! Figures, huh! Well, the following is the rest of our conversation:
