From Good Times to Sadness
Well, the picnic was great.
SO many family members came this year! It was … huge! We stayed for about 5 hours, returning home this evening sufficiently worn out and sunburned. Riley had too much fun and was so exhausted when we got home! He zonked out and slept for hours!
I was deeply saddened, though, at hearing the news of Katharine Hepburn’s death. She is without question my most favorite actress of all time. She was also an amazing role model. Her mother and aunt were two women who helped spearhead the women’s movement way back when. They fought for birth control and a woman’s right to vote. Katharine Hepburn was raised to be proud of who she was, who she could become, and was fiercely independent. I’m just really, really sad she is gone, but will continue to look at her for inspiration. In a lot of ways she reminds me of my own Grandmother. She, too, was extremely self-confident and very independent, and a woman way ahead of her time. But Katharine wasn’t, as strange as that may sound. In fact, she once said of herself, “I was born at exactly the right time. And I will die at exactly the right time. That’s what I’m all about. Perfect timing”. She was one who definitely knew who she was!
So now she’s gone, and I’m sad ….. but I am also very grateful she lived. What a woman!
Hey :)
Hey everyone.
So how was your Saturday?
Mine? Well …. I’m almost embarrassed to say. Around 1:30 this afternoon I was feeling really tired, so I went to lie down for a bit. I hardly ever take naps, so the fact that I did tells ya’ I was dog tired. Anyway … umm … I woke up over 4 hours later.
So, yeah … I slept the day away. lol But ohhhh my it felt good! ![]()
Tomorrow is our annual family picnic, so I won’t be around. It’s always a good time. It’s my husband’s side of the family and believe me, it’s a huge family! Well, they’re Italian and Catholic, so there ya’ go.
Anyway, there’s always tons of the best food imaginable, and frisbees and softball and kids, kids, kids! lol We’re taking Riley with us.
He loves people so much and gets incredibly excited around them, so tomorrow will be quite the test for him. If it’s too much for him with all those people around, I’ll have to bring him back home.
Enough of that boring stuff. lol Hope you all have a fantastic Sunday! ![]()
I’m a Barbie Girl, In a Barbie World
Alex asks this timeless and profound question: If you were a Barbie, which Barbie would you be? ;) After giving it much thought, this is what I decided:
I would be Anxiety Barbie, complete with hands and knees that shake, a blood pressure cuff, and a tiny little paper bag used for hyperventilation. Oh, and an array of medications including, but not limited to, anti-anxiety, blood pressure and stomach acid reducer, all sold seperately. *heehee*
So, which Barbie would you be? C’mon, you can tell me. Leave a comment here, or trackback from your own site so I can read about it! ;)
‘Gem’erally Speaking

You’re a Diamond. You seem like a cold and
unreachable person outside, yet you are
beautiful inside and outside. You may be
stubborn at times. You act with grace and
elegance and are a precious asset to all
your friends.
