Idols and Questions

My telephone rang. When I answered it, I was very surprised to hear my sister’s voice (the one who just had surgery yesterday). Get this — she said she was calling just to say HI. Then she proceeds to tell me that they’ve moved her from ICU to a regular room, and that she WALKED on her own to her new room! GEEZ! Is she Superwoman, or what!!! Less than 24 hours after major stomach and gallbladder surgery, and she’s walking, tubes and all! Mercy! She is most definitely my own personal American Idol!

This is completely off-subject, but would someone please tell me this is NOT true? Yesterday while we were all waiting for my sister to be taken to surgery, she told us that she’d heard they had passed a law in China whereby people who contract SARS can be put to death in order to control its spread! Is that true????? If so, how can they do that???? My God!

[Edit: Thanks to my wonderful friend, Min, I now have an answer to my question. It makes more sense now, albeit drastic. But I guess deliberately spreading the disease is akin to assault and/or murder, right? Anyway, a big thank you to you, Min! ) ]

When I had my gallbladder out two years ago, they said they actually prefer that you walk. It helps circulation. They make you walk not long after surgery. It amazed me when I heard it too. ;) “You want me to walk? NOW?”

Glad to hear she’s doing okay.

I do believe AIDS carries the same type of sentencing and actually if true, doesn’t surpise me one bit.

    Great News about your sister.

Aren’t we nurses mean……Yes, it is very good for her to walk it helps her ward off pneumonia, blood clots and gets you healing faster. I am glad she was a trooper and went ahead and took charge.

I am glad she her spirits are up.
