Cats!!
Remember when I told you about the cat that “adopted” us? Yeah, well right now I’m so mad at him!! I leave the sliding window on the door to the porch open so he can come and go as he pleases, right? Well, I was veggin’ in my recliner recovering from the leftover “hit by a truck” feeling the flu leaves you with, when all of a sudden I heard a bird screaming! I looked out the glass door to the porch, and there was the cat, torturing and trying to kill a baby robin! Yeah, I know I know, that’s what cats do — but damn, not on my porch!!! I went out there and tried to shoo him off the porch, but no way would he leave. I finally picked him up to throw him out, but he quickly “grabbed” the birdy with the claws on his right paw. I didn’t know what to do because I knew he’d “attack” me if I tried to take the bird away. Just then the bird escaped his hold and flew out the front door! WHEW!! That poor little bird! I hope the cat didn’t hurt it too bad. I didn’t see open wounds or anything. Oh man, that bird was sooo scared. I’ve never heard a bird cry out like that before in my life! My heart is still pounding.
Now, changing the subject completely *lol* I want to THANK YOU all for the wonderful advice you gave me regarding saying “NO”, and for all the get well wishes you left me! You know something? It’s more than just the words which touch me. It’s the time you take to come here …. the time you take to leave your thoughts …. and the sincerity with which you say them. You all truly do enrich my soul with who you are. THANK YOU!!

I am sooo glad you were able to help save that poor little robin, Leigh. My heart would be pounding too. That’s one reason I’m NOT a lover of cats…LOVE birdies too much!!! And ya know, the worst thing about cats is, they don’t always kill for food. Most of the time it’s for sheer pleasure. I’ve seen too many little birds suffer due to tormenting cats. Like to see one take on an eagle! LOL

It’s always a treat to come here… I am glad I found you out here. God doesn’t lead us to eachother for nothing… we’re here to love and care for eachother. Love you, Leigh!
ps… about the cat thing… dogs tend to do that sort of thing too… ours would bring home “presents” for us.

Perhaps the baby robin has NINE LIVES, of which, you are simply unaware!

I’m amazed you are so upset at a cat acting on instinct and killing a bird. A bird is much lower on the food chain than the children who were “collateral damage” in the war with Iraq. By the way, where was the threat to the US? They have yet to find weapons of mass destruction. And, if you think this whole thing was about terrorism, think again. Where is Bin Laden?

Debbie (if that’s really your name),
I’m wondering how you could go from my cat to the war in one flail swoop; but regardless, I’m always happy to have people visit, but since it is my space which I pay for, I do insist that all who visit respect the rule, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”.
Mmm kay?
Thanks

well said Leigh. I hope I didn’t upset you with what I said about a cat taking on an eagle. I was just kidding, okay? It’s just that I hate seeing cats tormenting little birds. I don’t Love cats, but I don’t hate them either. Just prefer birdies, that’s all.

Well I just wanted to say that is so totally normal to feel the way you do. We did when one of our cats brought a mating dove to us. OMG! I couldn’t believe it and Patrick and I were horrified and took it to the Vet the very next day and thank God it lived. Poor kitty, he was so proud of his “catch” and well as much as we hated (Patrick hated it more because he used to raise exotic birds and he loves them)what he did we had to remind ourselves that this is what animals do.

Hi! My poor kitty is scared of birds, and mice, and pretty much everything except human flesh, which she loves to sink her teeth in. A gang of bluejays attacked her and now she hides when birds come around. Glad to hear the bird seemed ok, though
