Tangible Reminders

My oldest son (see entry below) came home today. He came for the day and is spending the night tonight. He was sooo tired when he got here. He hasn’t been sleeping — or eating. I was so glad he decided to come over. He fell asleep almost as soon as he got here. When he woke, he went upstairs with my younger (19) son. They were up there for a while and I didn’t hear anything, then suddenly I heard them laughing together. I was so happy! They were playing a video game. When they came downstairs, they said they were going to go to the movies. I had told my younger son earlier today (before R. came over) that it would be good if he hung out with him for while …. that it would be good for him …. and it is. When they come home, we will all have dinner together.

While they were upstairs, hubby and my daughter went on a walk. I was downstairs alone and decided to go out and sit on my porch for a while. What I saw was so beautiful ….

The sun was just beginning to set, and when I looked outside, all the treetops were bathed in the most brilliant golden-orange. The treetops and housetops …. it was breathtaking! I didn’t want to miss a moment of it, so I just sat there and stared. It only lasted about 5 minutes, then was gone. I’m so happy the whispers nudged me outside when they did. I wouldn’t have wanted to miss that for anything! If we just take the time to stop and look, nature will share with us its phenomenal beauty when we least expect it. It is a tangible reminder that hope lives on.

I am constantly amazed with the beauty that surrounds me and I too, have made it a point to stop…and “see” it before it passes!
