Mixed Bag
It’s sooo cold today! Only 9 degrees out there this morning — and it finally snowed! Yay! That part is very good, considering we’re in a sever drought situation here.
I asked my husband to reset the alarm clock for me when he got up this morning … I told him I needed to be up by 7:15. I remember hearing it go off for him at 6:45 and thinking to myself that I had 30 minutes of glorious sleep left. Next thing I knew, I felt a little hand on my arm gently shaking me. I woke with a start, and looked up into the beautiful face of my daughter. She said, “Daddy isn’t back yet, so can you get up and take me to school?”. I looked at my watch. It was 8:00! lol I told her that Daddy wasn’t coming back for her this morning, and that I had planned on taking her but the alarm clock hadn’t gone off when it was supposed to. When I checked the clock, I had to laugh to myself …. my husband, bless his heart, had set it for 7:15 p.m. in his early morning, half-awake stupor. lol So I got up, quickly dressed and went out to start the car, only to find the windows covered in thick ice and snow. UGH! It took forever to scrape it off and by the time I was finished my fingers were numb icicles hanging from my hands! When we finally left, we had about a minute before the bell. When we arrived at school, I turned to that beautiful face of hers to say goodbye and noticed she didn’t have her glasses on! Oh great! lol So we came back home, got the glasses, and drove aaaall the way back to school. I think I got her there before the tardy bell, though. Whew!
On a more serious note ….
In traveling through my daily reads this morning, I came across this fantastic post over at Serenity Quest. It is one woman’s personal story with regard to a woman’s right to choose. Today being the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, she was moved to share it with all of us. It is quite compelling and eloquently-written. I commend her for having the courage to put her story out there for everyone to read. I hope you’ll take the time to have a look.
