I guess you could say there's this kind of ... weird .. thing ... that sort of runs in my family. I don't know how far back it might go, as I was too stupid as a teenager and young adult to question my grandmother about it. Believe me, I kick myself for that all the time! Anyway, my grandma could never wear a watch. Every time she did, it would stop. I remember thinking "Hmmm, that's very strange", but never really giving it any deeper thought than that at the time. I wish I had. Why? Well, because now my daughter -- get this -- causes street lights to go out. I kid you not! I've been with her when it's happened! When I made a humorous comment about the street light going out as we drove under it, she said "That happens to me all the time, Mom", and she was completely serious.
In questioning her further about it, I have learned that not only does she put random street lights out when she passes by -- whether on foot or in a car -- but there are two specific street lights in town which always go out. Well, one of them actually just flickers intensely while she is under it, then stops as soon as she passes, but the other one always goes out. Now, is that interesting or what! She's never worn a watch, so I don't know if she would stop them like Grandma did or not. I should get her one just to see, huh.
So what do you think causes that? Some kind of electrical exchange perhaps? Does she have a force field around her? LOL It would be cool to hear what some of you scientifically-minded people out there have to say about this. But regardless, I think it's cool. :)
I had the weirdest thing happen to me last night. I was just standing in my kitchen, when all of a sudden I got a really sharp pain on the top of my right foot. It felt exactly like I was being bitten by something! I looked down and nothing was there, but I kept an eye on it to see if it was going to swell or something, just in case the little scoundrel that bit me had quickly scampered away. Well, nothing happened, so I thought it was simply another weird thing about me. Then it happened again! And again, and again and again! It kept happening for HOURS last night! So now I'm certain it's another weird thing about me, but it comes close to tipping my personal weirdness meter. What do you think could cause something like that to happen? It hurt like hell, too! It felt like whatever WASN'T biting me had big ass teeth! LOL! I dunno. A phantom spider, maybe? Or no, I know! It's the pissed off spirit of a spider I killed! Yeah, that's it. The little turd was getting back at me!
Bwahahahahaha!!!
It's so friggin' hot. I'm sitting here sweating, but too stubborn to turn the A/C back on. I shouldn't have to run it at night! LOL Now, would someone PLEASE tell me why dogs roll in the stinkiest stuff they can find??? I swear, they'll run from a bath, but positively dive into shit!
WTH?? My Golden, Daisy, came in the other night from playing out in the back yard, and I heard Hubs ask, "What's this all over her back?". I was like, "What? What's what all over her back", then walked into the bathroom to see. OMG!! I'm tellin' ya', it was NASTY! I wouldn't get any closer than I had to, so Hubs smelled her and quite matter-of-factly said, "Yep, it's shit". Great! Guess what that meant? It meant I had to wash her, cuz she's MY dog!
First I tried with really wet paper towels, followed by Clorox wipes. LOL No good. She still stunk. So I had to practically wrestle this 90 pound girl into the shower, and wash her whole right side. Why a water dog who LOVES swimming hates showers is beyond me!
ANYway, the dog shampoo I grabbed on the fly was, of course, the one with Omega fatty acids in it, so it smelled like fish! Oh WONderful -- fish AND shit!
I just about puked. It was all I could do to finish.
Why oh why do they do that???
Wow, what a strange night last night was! First of all, there was tons of lightning, but only about 3 drops of rain. It was so strange. The light show was awesome, though! Totally loved it.
Then later my cell phone rang, and it was my daughter. She was at Dave's house (my son) and said, "What do you do with an injured bat?" I was like, "An injured bat!?", to which she replied, "yeah, an injured bat". First thing I said was to stay the hell away from it! Bats are notorious for carrying rabies 'round these parts, and then I told her to keep Dave's dogs out of the yard and not to let them get near it. Then I asked her what was going on. She said that they had been in the house and heard a strange noise. She thought nothing of it, thinking it was just the water heater or something. It was, as she described, a squeaky noise. Dave got up and went out to the back yard to look around, and quickly came back in and said "There's somethin' messed up out there!". LOL! He grabbed his big flashlight and they all (Dave, Callie and her b/f Darin) went out to see what it was. What they saw shocked them all -- two bats on the ground beside his house! They're not sure if they were fighting or what, but Dave told Callie it looked like one was chomping on the other. Anyway, the one doing the chomping flew away immediately; the second one just laid there, but when Dave would shine the light on it, it would start flapping its wings and making that funny squeaky noise. Somewhere along the line it got to a pipe running along the bottom of Dave's house and starting hanging from it! LOL You know, like bats do. Dave slowly walked closer and shined his flashlight on it again, and that's when it suddenly got pissed off and flew directly towards his head! LOL Scared the crap out of him! LOL! Oh man, I so wish I had been there to see that!
After the whole bat thing was over, another lightning show came along. Totally cool. It was truly a batty and beautiful night!
How could a 5-acre glacial lake in Chile's southern Andes disappear in the span of 2 months? Park rangers at Bernardo O'Higgins National Park report that in March the lake was there, but in May they found a 100-feet crater there instead. Interestingly enough, several large pieces of ice that used to float atop the water are still there, just lying on the ground. At first I thought the same thing the experts did -- that the water must have escaped through cracks into underground fissures, but there have been no earthquakes in the area lately at all, so why would cracks suddenly appear?
Geologists and other experts will be arriving in the area, which is 1,250 miles southeast of Santiago, in the next few days to investigate. Now this is something I definitely want to follow. A true mystery! Of glacial proportions! (sorry, I couldn't resist LOL) Seriously, though, this is one weird phenomenon!
I was actually shocked when I read the news report about the man pictured below. Quite honestly, I thought stuff like that only happened in the movies! Well okay, I guess I knew it could happen in real life, but very, very rarely. I totally never expected to be reading about it happening to someone almost in my own back yard. I'm finished rambling - keep reading!
DENVER -- A man who doesn't know who he is talked publicly Friday afternoon in hopes that someone will recognize him. John Doe was found with massive head injuries on the 16th Street Mall. He's recovered enough to talk but has been diagnosed with amnesia. "If anybody recognizes me, knows who I am, please let somebody know," the man pleaded.
Police said he doesn't remember anything and doesn't know how he received his head injuries. Investigators said that his story is legitimate.
The man said he remembers waking up outside on Sept. 10 and needing help.
"Things started for me -- it was just outside the World Trade Center downtown. I remember picking myself up off the ground. I don't know if I was half-sitting or half-laying on the ground, and realizing that I didn't know where I was or who I was," the man said.
He said he asked for help from people around him, but people thought he was an intoxicated homeless person.
Police said he was nicely dressed and well-manicured when he was found, so he's not likely a transient. At the news conference, he wore the yellow cap, blue sweater, white tennis shoes, a silver and black watch, and a gold ring which he was found in, with hopes that someone would recognize the items.
Investigators ran his fingerprints, but nothing came up because the man has no record locally or nationally, police said.
The man, whom doctors are calling "Al," was put under hypnosis and said from that session, he thinks he lost his family in an accident.
"One of the things that has come out of the hypnosis and the sodium amytal is that I did have a wife and two kids and they were killed back in April. They were hit by a drunk driver and they were all killed," he said.
Police are searching records across the country to see if he is linked to any drunken-driving cases but said that what came out of the hynosis is only a theory -- not fact.
"Al" said it's very lonely not knowing who he is or how he is connected to the world. He admits that his story may make for a good movie but it's not a good life.
If you know who he is or where he is from, call Denver police at 720-913-6910.
Isn't that crazy? Geez, I really feel sorry for the guy. Especially if it's true about his family dying. Quite the mystery, isn't it. I hope the police can find out who he is and what, exactly, happened to him. Well, as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction!
See the new design I put up? Yeah, well, I put it up last night -- actually it was early this morning, like 2:30 a.m. I had decided that since I couldn't fix the problem with the popup comments with that last design, I'd just change it. And change it I did. Then I went to bed. It was about 3:00 a.m.
Fast forward to about 11:00 a.m. --
I fire up the ol' puter and open my browser, only to be greeted by the OLD design. I was like, "huh?? what the heck??". So I log in to MT and my templates and index pages, only to find the OLD code and CSS! I was totally confused! I sat here wondering if I had dreamed making those changes. I had even written a new post, and it wasn't there, either! oooooWEEEEEooooo! So I'm thinkin', "okay, the ghost sat down here last night after I went to bed and undid everything I had done", right? Could be. But it's more likely that it was a server-side glitch. But I think I'll stick with the ghost theory; it's much more fun. ;)
ANYway, about this design. Now that I'm finished doing it ALL OVER AGAIN, I'll tell you about it. ;) I was looking through some of my old graphics last night, and saw this one. I made it a long time ago, and had titled it "Healing Light". When I look at it, I feel that she is sad, but the healing light of heaven is shining down upon her. I realized, when looking at it last night, that that is where I am in my life right now; sad and in need of some heavenly light. I decided immediately that I had to use it here. I hope you like it. :)
