May is finally here! Yaaay! I don't like April at all, for a plethora of reasons, so I am always very happy when May arrives.
It's Springtime, right? Even some flowers are blooming, so it must be! Except here in Colorado we're still in the middle of winter -- at least for today. Yep, believe it or not, we've been under a blizzard warning all day! Luckily we haven't received any measurable snow, but my son said it is most definitely a blizzard where he lives (30 minutes from here). He said you can hardly even see to drive and there's snow everywhere! Jeepers!
Even though we didn't get any snow, we've had hellacious winds all day. It snapped one of our trees in half! It was about 18 feet tall and 4 or 5 inches in diameter. Even bigger trees have fallen in town -- great big ones! One poor guy had his Suburban crunched by one. Gnarly! Oh, and did I mention that it is FUH-REEZING outside?!
Fortunately this big ol' storm system will be gone by tomorrow when my daughter and I are taking our first road trip in the new car! Fun! :) Hope you have fun Saturday, too!
Oh man, it sucks so bad having to keep working and writing stuff when all I can think about is Daisy. I can't even express how much I am missing her. My emotions bubble over several times a day and the tears begin to flow. I can't help it. I just want her back so much.
*sigh*
I guess it's supposed to get cold this weekend. That figures. Oh well, I guess it's that time of year for the cold to come. I wish it wasn't though. I don't do cold well at all. The warm part of the year always goes so fast! Bummer.
I really should be sleeping, seeing as it's almost 4:00AM. Oh, I did another 3 mile walk tonight (I guess that would technically be last night). It felt good. Hopefully the really cold weather is a very long way off so I can keep walking. I need to get a treadmill or something so I can do it inside during winter.
I'm just rambling. Sorry. I think I'll put my tired brain to bed now. Have a fab Friday. :)
Guess what? I can hardly believe it myself, but ... we're under a WINTER STORM WATCH beginning tomorrow night until Friday afternoon!
According to the National Weather Service:
SNOW WILL EXPAND ACROSS THE PLAINS AND FRONT RANGE LATE THURSDAYNIGHT.SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED BY DAYBREAK FRIDAY WITH TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES POSSIBLE BEFORE THE SNOW DECREASES FRIDAY NIGHT.
THE HEAVIER SNOWFALL TOTALS WILL OCCUR IN THE FRONT RANGE AND AREAS ADJACENT TO THE FOOTHILLS. LESSER SNOW AMOUNTS WILL FALL NORTHEAST OF DENVER...BUT GUSTY WINDS OF 20 TO 25 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ON THE PLAINS.
Oh joy. Don't you agree, given the time of year it is, they should modify their warning systems a bit and call these types of watches a SPRING SNOW STORM WATCH or something? I mean, a winter storm watch in the middle of April? That's just not right.
Well, I finally got some sleep. Yay! But when I woke up the stupid sore throat, congestion and cough were back. Damn! I'm going to ignore it, because we've had plans all week to go out of town tomorrow (I guess that's technically today), and we're gonna go no matter what! So, shopping and fine food at Red Lobster here we come! It will be so good to get out of town for even one day!
Saw a few things online tonight that were either shocking, unbelievable or just plain mean and stupid. First of all, SHAME on Donald Trump for making light of Rosie O'Donnell's struggle with clinical depression. I read the other day that he said "She gets depressed when she looks in the mirror". That is just SO WRONG in SO MANY ways! What an ass he is!!
Secondly, I was completely shocked to read that there was an alleged hate crime right here where I live. I know I probably view life in my small town with slightly rose-tinted glasses, but I really never expected a hate crime like that here. I suppose I still want to believe my town is as innocent as it used to be. I'm smart enough to know better. I just wish it were the former.
Lastly, when I read the story about stray cats entering a home in North Platte, Nebraska, and actually attacking the residents, you could have knocked me over with a feather! Attack cats?? Scary! We found a stray once - or I guess I should say it found US - and of course my daughter fell in love. I've never liked cats. She doesn't anymore. That stupid cat attacked her leg when she was walking by! She had just fed the damn thing, too! Ungrateful feline.
I had to take her to the ER and everything. Needless to say, I called animal control as soon as we got home. They had a helluva time trapping that cat, too. It was hiding under our deck. I guess it knew the jig was up! lol
Well, time to go attempt some relaxation so I can fall asleep later. Oh crap, I've got clothes in the washer. Guess I'll relax after I visit the clothes dryer. ;)
Have a great Thursday!

Do you ever google yourself? Or maybe your web site? I do. It's fun. I've googled my blog many times and have only ever seen links back to my own site, but today it was different. About 3rd or 4th down on the page I saw a link to this site called Forensic Thoughtprints.
Wow! I love forensics, so thought I'd take a look. This is what I found:
What is a “Thoughtprint?”A thoughtprint is unconscious communication hidden within verbal or written communication. A more complete definition can be found here.
How are thoughtprints used?
Various types of communications can be profiled to reveal any subconcious messages that are contained in them. Communication can be oral or written. Typical communications are: ransom notes, letters, suicide notes, police interrogations, etc.
Thoughtprint decoding can also be useful in a defense case. The subconscious can also give clues to innocence.
More information on how thoughtprints are used is available here.
Well I'll be. Who'da thunk it! Now, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to figure out what I'm really trying to say.
(Oh, and P.S., Harvard plans to name its first female President - will wonders never cease??!!
)
Oh man, I can NOT believe it's already November!! Where has the rest of the year gone?? Especially the summer! That flew by in the blink of an eye, didn't it! Before we know it the Holidays will be upon us. Did you notice that Thanksgiving is on the 23rd this year? We thought that was pretty early, seeing as there's 30 days in November, but then we realized there are 5 Thursdays in November this year. Thanksgiving is always on the 4th Thursday. I always thought it was the LAST Thursday of the month, never thinking about the odd year when there are more than 4 of 'em in the month. I know, I'm blabbering on about something completely unimportant and not at all interesting, but what else does one do at midnight when tired and sleep cannot be found? LOL
Okay, so on to the semi-interesting stuff. *wink* Yesterday John Kerry aplogized for his so-called "poorly stated joke" saying,
"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended"
Yeah, ummm ... way too little way too late, John ol' boy! Apology not accepted!
Now, on to the big man himself, "The Donald". It seems his American flag at his Florida estate is causing quite a flap. He has been cited by Palm Beach for hoisting the large American flag onto an 80-foot pole outside his Mar-a-Lago estate and club.
Town officials say Trump has violated zoning codes with a flagpole taller than 42 feet. They also said he didn't get a building permit, didn't get permission from the landmarks board and violated his club's agreement with the town.Trump has until Nov. 27 to apply for approval or face a December code enforcement hearing that could result in fines of $250 a day.
Yeah, like that $250 bucks a day is actually gonna hurt!
He responded in a letter, saying permits are not necessary to put up an American flag.
He also wrote that "anyone who objects should not hold a public office"
Right on, Donald!!!
I don't like pushy people. I especially don't like pushy people who have that "holier-than-thou" attitude, you know what I mean? And I REALLY hate it when those people think they're perfect and always right and everyone else is wrong!
That drives me CRRRRAZY!! ![]()
Okay, I just needed to get that off my chest. LOL People totally irriate me sometimes, that's all. And please, if I EVER talk about joining another forum - of ANY kind - tell me to put my brain back in!!
Damn. This is bad news. I was really hoping ol' Osama was keeping company with the worms. He seriously needs to be taken out. Of course, once he is, there will be someone right in line behind him. *sigh*
It was reported a couple days ago that a woman in Denver went to the bathroom - and had a baby! On the toilet! The kicker is, she said she didn't know she was pregnant! Huh?? Yeah, I've heard those stories of women having babies who didn't know they were expecting, but I've had 3 babies and there is no way I wouldn't have known I was pregnant! Please, someone explain to me how this can happen. I really want to know. Anyway, that's a helluva bathroom break, eh?
Hope ya'll are fine and dandy and smilin' all the way! :) Just think ......
ONLY 3 MORE DAYS 'TIL THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!!!!
It's supposed to snow this weekend, hence the new snowy layout. Yep, the white stuff is due to fall on Sunday, Tuesday AND Thursday! UGH! I am SO not ready for cold, cold weather!
It's already been cold enough for my taste WITHOUT snow! But, there's no stopping the weather, so let it fall!
Some of you may know about the seemingly unending insomnia I've been experiencing the last few months; well, I slept for - are you ready for this? - FOURTEEN hours!!
Yep, I did! Unbelievable! And I'll tell ya' what, it felt sooooo good!! I woke up from time-to-time, but only enough to kind of open my eyes, close them again and go right back to sleep. It was grrrrreat!!
Would you believe I'm still feeling sleepy?? I'm hoping to get another full night's sleep again tonight!
So how was your holiday? Mine was really nice. I ate waaaay too much, but that's what we're supposed to do, right? Maybe that's why I slept so well! If that's what it takes, I guess I'll be staying awake again!
We had leftovers for supper tonight - YUMMM! I totally love leftovers! Don't you?
Son #2 turns 22 years old next Tuesday. Geez! I can't believe he's that old! We gave him his birthday/Christmas gift early - money for a new Xbox 360 Premium Gaming System. He's in heaven, lemme tell ya'! Son #1 is jealous (not for real, but yeah, for real LOL), so I've offered him the same deal - money for the system which counts for Christmas and birthday. That's cool, he says, except he'll have to wait until Christmas for his system since his birthday isn't until January.
Kids! No matter how old they get, boys always love their video games! LOL! Dave was first in line at our local Super Wal-Mart store, waiting there for about 10 hours. At that time, they were given tickets so they didn't have to hang around for the final 2 hours. The official launch time was midnight so, as he says, he was the first one in the whole town to own an Xbox 360! LOL He was proud. Believe it or not, there was actually a guy there from played.todeath.com (an online gaming magazine) who took Dave's picture for their next issue! He's gonna be famous.
Well, guess that's about all I have to say for now.
Hope ya'll have a fantastic weekend!! And a much warmer one than we Coloradoans are gonna have! LOL Take care!
Hey, it's Thursday. But I bet you knew that, huh. ;) It's also 2:52am where I live, and I can't sleep. Bah humbug!
How do you like the tulips? They were on a sympathy card my sisters and I received yesterday. There was just something about them that I found .... I don't know .... simple and -- no, just very simply beautiful. So I scanned the card and started playing around with it. Kinda' cool, if I do say so myself, how I got Mom's face in there, huh! ;) She was simply beautiful, too. :)
This last week has gone REALLY fast. Geez .... last Thursday was Mom's funeral, and it was SO cold and drizzly -- almost snowing -- and yesterday I had to break down and turn on the AC it was so hot. That's Colorado weather for ya'!
So .... we picked out the headstone for my Mom's grave. It's weird ... I was thinking about it, and it's like .... picking out your parents' headstone is the last thing you want to do, but in reality it actually IS the last thing you do for them. Yeah I know, I think about strange things. ;)
OK, I'm gonna go give this sleep thing another try. Have a beautiful day. :)
xoxoxo
Something very funky is going on with my comments. When you click to leave one, you will invariably get a really strange error, but the comment is posted, anyway. I do not, however, receive any email notification of them. It's very weird. I have no idea what's causing the error or how to fix it. I'm hoping it just works itself out. *crossing fingers*
So how was your hump day? Mine was very blah. Nothing great, nothing tragic, so I guess it could've been worse (or better?). ANYway, I hope yours was loverly. ;) Have a wonderful night! :)
((hugs))
Hi Guys :) So how goes it? Very well, I hope. :)
It's been kind of trying around here the last couple of days. Remember when I told you my Mom had the stomach flu? Yeah, well, now my sister has it. She took care of Mom on Thursday, and came down with it herself in the middle of the night last night. I took care of Mom yesterday, so I sure hope I don't get it, too!! And my nephew has been confirmed as having that scary flu which is running rampant in our State right now. He's on what the doctor called "the magic pill" (anti-flu medication), and it is helping a lot! The doc says that pill is unbelievably effective if given early enough.
Well, only one of the dogs was able to get her hair done yesterday. Something came up and the groomer was unable to take all three so, of course, Sophie went first since she is the matriarch of the animals. ;) She's home now, lookin' all purdy, and Sage and Riley are at the groomer's getting all beautified as I type this. :) If I can get my digital to work right, I'll post pictures when they're all home and looking gorgeous!
If you're interested, the voting is now open for Wizbang's 2003 Weblog Awards. You might want to pay particular attention to the category "Best Looking Blog" *wink* (yeah, that's right, I'm shameless *lol*).
As you can see, I decided to make a nocturnal version of my beach scene. I like it, but my daughter says it looks funny because even a bright, full moon would not light up the beach and water that much. I told her that on the tropical island where MY imagination lives, it does!!! LOL! (EDIT: Okay, so I caved and put the daytime beach scene up. What can I say? I'm weak. *wink*)
We have a cake in the oven right now. A spice cake, to be exact. I promised her we'd make it today. We will be adding cream cheese frosting when it cools. Want some? ;) (EDIT AGAIN: The cake is awesome! You better hurry up and get over here if you want some, cuz it's goin' fast! *giggle*)
I hope you're all having a super Saturday and are enjoying your weekend! Take good care. ((hugs))
It is just about 8:00pm and it's already down to 9 degrees(F)! BRRRRR!!! The wind is a'blowin' and the snow is a'fallin', too! And anyone who's foolish enough to be out driving in it is a'slip slidin' away on the slickery streets! ;) These are the times when I truly appreciate my warm home. And blankies and socks, too. ;)
Hope you're warm and cozy where you are. :)
Did you hear the story of the couple who put their kids to bed at night, then got online and gambled? Yeah, they lost $100,000.00. So now, of course, as is the growing custom, they're suing their credit card company for allowing charges which may be illegal! Can you believe that??? Personal responsibility is no longer even a concept!! And then we wonder why our nation's children make excuses and blame everyone else for what THEY do! Gee, I bet if those people had WON $100,000.00 they wouldn't be complaining about the credit card company allowing them to do so! Idiots.
How much do you know about Acupuncture? I mean, we all know it involves little needles, and we know what it's supposed to do, but how much do you really know about it. The reason I'm asking is because my oldest son's specialist in Denver prescribed, believe it or not, 8 weeks of acupuncture, along with other physical therapies. I'm so glad he has a progressive-thinking doctor! Anyway, Ryan went to his first consultation with the only doctor in town who does acupuncture, and came away feeling very positive! He was absolutely amazed by everything she told him and showed him. He said it is the first time in 2 years (since the car accident) that anyone has actually given him hope of alleviating his pain. That makes me so happy!!
We have a one day break from the icky cold weather today. The sun is actually shining!
It's in the forties instead of the thirties -- a regular heat wave! LOL Tomorrow the clouds and cold return, along with the sleet and snow. ![]()
I hope your Tuesday is bringing many smiles! Have a beautiful rest of the day! ![]()
Go Vote!
We haven't had a single trick-or-treater yet. It's just too darn cold out there! Plus there are lots of activities set up for kids all around town, so I'm sure their parents would rather partake of them than walk the streets and freeze to death! ;)
I'm here all alone. My daughter is over at my niece's helping with the baby. They went shopping, too, and bought Nevaeh a new toy and outfit. :) Hubby is still at work. I've just been sitting here in the dark, all comfy and cozy under my blankie in the recliner, sipping raspberry hot chocolate and watching cheesy horror flicks on TV. I love nights like this. ;)
I hope you're comfy and cozy wherever you are tonight, too. :)
I am in a very quiet place today. Not withdrawn, just quiet. It feels nice, actually.
I will be spending even more time over at Mom's for a while. Her caretaker has had a family emergency of her own, so her presence at my mother's will be very sporadic. It's always something, huh.
I've been meaning to blog about this story for a couple of days now, but kept forgetting. It's so tragic what happened, and the ensuing battle to harvest his sperm very trying for his wife and family. But they finally won, and now someday his young, adoring wife, Mandy, will be able to bear his child, which was what he wanted most in his life. She has begun somewhat of a crusade to have added to all marriage licenses a checkbox, very much like what one has on their driver license, where one can designate whether or not they give their spouse permission to harvest their eggs or sperm in the event of such a tragedy as what happened to Joshua Garvin. Personally, I think it's a wonderful idea. How do you feel about it?
