The Dangers of Open Windows

You know, this has been quite the strange year in Denver for little kids falling out of windows. I don't know what it is, or why, but there's been like 5 little kids fall at least 2 or 3 stories out of open windows.

Another little girl fell out of a third story bedroom window yesterday. Thank God, and quite miraculously, she only suffered a few cuts, but was otherwise just fine!

I figure if this is happening in Denver, it's surely happening elsewhere, also. The Screen Manufacturers Association and the National Safety Council have the following safety tips for parents that I thought I'd pass along to you:

When small children are present, close and lock windows. If you need ventilation, open windows that are out of reach of children.

Do not place furniture near windows.

Keep window treatments (blinds, cords, drapes, etc.) out of reach.

Do not allow children to lean on screens and windows.

Do not allow roughhousing near windows and patio doors.

Watch your children as they play.

Just a few simple things we can all do to help ensure our little ones stay safe. :)
