Please Let This Day Be Over!
This has been one sucky day! First of all, it totally does NOT seem like Wednesday. It feels more like a Sunday. My inner clock is screwed up.
Secondly, I got a very scary phone call from my oldest sister, Debbie, this morning around 11:00, telling me that our other sister, Kelly, was being taken to the hospital by ambulance. Immediately the anxiety began. As some of you who have been reading my blog for a while may remember, she has had a couple of very serious bouts with congestive heart failure. Well, count this as number 3. Plus there's some other stuff going on that the doctor - a new doctor both my sisters really like - says she's going to get to the bottom of, for which I am VERY happy. Please, if you are so inclined, keep her in your prayers. Thank you.
Next, I called Hubs in South Dakota to tell him what was going on. Called him back later on in the day to tell him that Kelly had been admitted to the hospital, etc., etc., but like me he was in a cranky mood as he had awakened with a sore throat this morning. Oh joy. Well, needless to say, our two cranky moods didn't feel like playing together, so the conversation was short and anything but sweet. Bah. Tomorrow's another day, right?
Then of course I get the requisite case of diarrhea (sorry, TMI right?) from the anxiety I'd been having all day. I was expecting it. At least that's consistent. *smirk*
So finally all is settling down a bit, when suddenly I hear this very loud SSSSHHHHHH sound coming from the laundry room. I jumped up and ran back there as fast as I could, to find it being flooded by the washer's rinse cycle! As I've told you guys, it's been VERY cold here, and apparently the drain pipe from the washer to the sewer had frozen outside, so when the washer tried to dispose of the water, it all went INSIDE my house instead of down the drain! Lovely!
So, about 15 minutes and LOTS of curse words later, I switched the hose to another drain pipe which takes the water out into our back yard instead of underground, and thankfully that one wasn't frozen. Yet. I imagine now that it has water in it, it will. I also imagine I will be walking around in stinky clothes until the Spring thaw.
Have I mentioned yet that I HATE the cold!!!!
A couple of hours later Callie and her best friend went to the movies with her big brother Dave and his girlfriend. They were happy. I was excited for the quiet. *knock on wood* The day's not over with yet.
