Just Ducky!
There is snow, snow and more snow out there today! It's supposed to last until around 11:00PM tomorrow night. Sometimes it is so beautiful, with big ol' flakes falling from the sky. I love to look at it when it's like that. My dogs are cute when they come inside after taking a potty/play break and their backs have snow all over them. Everyone but Sage and Riley really love playing in the snow. The Farmer's Almanac calls for quite a bit of snow for Colorado at least through February, with another heavy snow storm moving through Feb. 4-7. I guess we'll see if they're right. ;)
My sister was released from the hospital yesterday with a diagnosis of pneumonia and a hiatal hernia. I took her home around noon. Apparently all the blood tests came back normal, which really surprised me. Her symptoms mirrored those of hypoglycemia so closely! She has an appointment with her Doctor on Monday and is planning on asking her about it. I guess we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, eh? ;) Thank you SO MUCH for all of your prayers and positive thoughts! :)
Did you know certain ducks are extremely resilient? Some of them downright refuse to die! Take, for instance, this duck in Tallahassee, Florida (it's a female duck, of course! *wink*):
Neither gunfire nor two days in a refrigerator could slay this duck. When the wife of the hunter who shot it opened the refrigerator door, the duck lifted its head, giving her a scare.
The man's wife "was going to check on the refrigerator because it hadn't been working right and when she opened the door, it looked up at her," said Laina Whipple, a receptionist at Killearn Animal Hospital. "She freaked out and told the daughter to take it to the hospital right then and there."
The 1-pound female ring-neck ended up at Goose Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, where it has been treated since Tuesday for wounds to its wing and leg.
Sanctuary veterinarian David Hale said it has about a 75 percent chance of survival, but probably won't ever be well enough to be released back into the wild.
I wonder if her husband got mad.
Well, you guys, I've argued with myself all day long as to whether or not post about something I learned today. Seems like lately I've been asking for so many prayers and positive thoughts for members of my family. After a while I wonder if it even sounds believable anymore (but believe, it's far too real!). *sigh* Anyway, I decided to go ahead and tell you, because there is never such a thing as too many prayers. My mother-in-law called me today and told me that my father-in-law has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It's in the very early stages, so the doctor is extremely optimistic and told them they shouldn't worry. He (the Doc) gave him a choice between chemotherapy and cryotherapy, and he chose the latter. He goes to Greeley on the 30th for the procedure and will be released the next day. He didn't want anyone knowing, not even the kids (there are 7 of them!), but my MIL decided it was better for them to know and called us all today. I agree with her. The more prayers the better. So anyway, I called Hubs up in South Dakota and told him. He's so much like his father it's incredible. They both hold their feelings very close to the vest. I could tell he was upset, of course, but as usual trying to remain the strong silent type. He agreed with me, though, that watching our parents age sucks beyond words. So, here I am, once again asking for positive thoughts, energy and prayers to be sent my way for my FIL. I appreciate them more than I can say! Thank you!
With Love,
Thoughts from others
Your sister: not very serious stuff, very manageable, she is lucky, and you tell her I said so. *grumbles about people who don't take proper care of themselves*
We could all learn a lesson from ducks. Just imagine.

You're right, my Sis is very lucky, and she knows she has to eat much better than she has been. I really believe if she changes her diet and eats healthier, she will feel mucho better! She agrees, so that's a good thing. She lives alone, so it's kind of hard for her to get motivated about cooking, but she is determined to make herself healthy meals. Yay! :)

I said no, obviously.
So guess what: she'll eat herself into another attack.
