Falling Stars and Rising Spirits
I was reading the news, as I always do, and saw where we're going to be experiencing the peak of a meteor shower this weekend. It's the Leonid meteor shower, to be exact.
The Leonid meteor shower peaks on the weekend of November 18th and 19th. The Earth will pass through the Leonid meteor stream during the middle of the month and that means a chance to see a great light show! The moon will be waning so dark nights are expected. As long as skies are clear you might see “shooting stars”! The Leonids are known to produce spectacular displays with thousands of meteors burning in the atmosphere every hour. Each tiny meteor is only about the size of a particle of dust and vaporizes brightly in our planets atmosphere. The Leonid meteors are from the tail of Comet Tempel-Tuttle. The meteors are called the Leonids because they appear to originate from the Constellation Leo (The Lion) in the eastern sky.
I love meteor showers! If the skies are clear I will be outside tonight with my head pointed skyward! Tomorrow night, too! They're just so cool.
I haven't been feeling up to par the last few days - especially yesterday and today. Sore throat, body aches - general yuckiness. Nevertheless, I find myself actually getting excited about the Holidays! It's been a long time since I could say that. Another good sign that I'm coming out of my depression since Mom's passing. Anyway, I'm going to cook Thanksgiving dinner here on Thursday (with lots of help from my daughter and her best friend!). I haven't spoken to Ryan and Cindy yet, so I don't know if they'll be able to come or not, but I think Dave (those are my 2 sons, by the way, in case you didn't know - and my daughter-in-law) has the day off so he'll probably come over. I've also invited my two sisters, who I really hope will come! I'm even getting excited for Christmas, too! It feels sooo good to be looking forward to the Holidays rather than dreading them.
Speaking of David, he's going to be 23 on the 29th. How can that be possible?? I miss my boys a lot. I mean, it's fun and totally cool to see them grown and on their own, Ryan starting a family of his own, and seeing the kind of men they grew into, but I so miss their daily presence in my life. Growing pains .... I think Moms feel them the most.
Anyway, I better get to going. Ya'll have a great day! :)
