Colorado Rocky Mountain High

Last Monday I posted a link to a site where one can look at a pop-up slideshow of some stunning pictures of the aspen changing up in the Rockies, but my very, very good friend Debbie was not able to access it. So, instead she went searching for her own pictures, and came across a photoraphy site called Morning Light. This fella, Erik Stensland, takes ammmazing photos of Rocky Mountain National Park. Well, needless to say, I absolutely got lost in his photography, realizing even more that there are countless places in my own state - in RMNP, which I have visited at least 2 or 3 times - that I have never seen. Gorgeous, beauuutiful places! I told Debbie that I was making a list of all the places I want to visit, and I really am! When I finished at Morning Light, I went to his links page and starting visiting all the photography sites he had listed there. Wow! Such phenomenal photos of where I live, but have never seen! Is that pathetic or what! lol ANYway, at one of those other sites, called My Colorado, I found some very interesting facts about Colorado which I never knew (another pathetic admission). If you're interested, they are:

Colorado is the 8th largest state in the Union.

The highest peak is Mt. Elbert, 14,433 feet, near Leadville.

The tallest peak (base to peak) is Pikes Peak, 7,400 feet, near Colorado Springs.

54 of the United States' 86 14,000+ feet peaks are located in Colorado. (Alaska has 16; California, 15; Washington has Mt. Ranier)

There are 740 13,000+ feet peaks in Colorado.

Colorado has 75% of the US land over 10,000 feet. Truly, a Rocky Mountain High.

There are 300 sunny days a year here.

So, while it's embarassing that I discovered all of this as a result of my wonderful Australian friend pointing the way, I sure am glad she did! Thanks, Debbie!
