So What's Goin' On?
Gee, it's been 2 days and I've had absolutely nothing to talk about. How boring, eh? ;)
Hey, you know when there's someone who reeeaaally gets under your skin and just kinda' drives you NUTS? The kind of NUTS that makes your blood boil and your mouth speak uncontrollably? LOL Well, what do you do when you're around a person like that? Ya' see, in my "old age" I've become a snotty bitch when my patience runs thin, or when I'm around THAT kind of person! I am completely unable to keep my mouth shut, or my fingers quiet (if it's on the 'net). Actually, it's a good thing when it happens on the 'net, cuz then I'm in no danger of reaching out and strangling them! LOL
ANYway .... let's see, what's been going on around here ..... oh yeah, there was a very sad story out of Hawaii the other day. A family from Colorado was there vacationing (Mom, Dad, 3 kids), when 2 of the children were caught in a rip current and swept out into the ocean, so the Mom went out to save them. She got one of them back on shore, then went out for the other one, but unfortunately was caught in the current, also, and had to be saved by a bystander. The boy was never seen again. Mom died in the hospital a short time later. How devastating! But .... it kind of makes me wonder what Dad was doing this whole time. I don't know ... maybe he can't swim. *shrug* But how sad is that? A vacation turned nightmare in an instant. Damn.
On a much brighter note, my sister, who is a para at the Middle School, told me yesterday that one of my daughter's teachers told her how impressed he is with Callie (this is the 2nd time he's said stuff like this to her *big grin*). He told her that Callie is SO smart and, in his opinion, thinks she should be getting a lot more recognition for her academic achievements. Is that way cool or what!! She is up for an award in Science - the Outstanding Performance Award. She will find out in the next of couple of weeks if she got it or not. He also told Sis that he is quite impressed with Callie's maturity. But heck, she's ALWAYS been mature for her age. I remember back when she was about 5 years old she would come with me to the hair salon, and instead of staying with me, she'd go out into the "hair-dryer room" and visit with all the old ladies. LOL They couldn't believe how she would converse with them! Eventually the staff named her their honorary greeter. :) She's such a cool kid.
I guess that's about all goin' on around here. What's happening in your world?
Thoughts from others
The safest place for people to take their kids is to a safe swimming bay where there are no rips, or choose a surf beach with lifesavers available. And for God's sake..."swim between the flags!"
Such a sad, sad ending to a family holiday which should have been WONDERFUL! *sigh*
And to Callie...WOO HOO! Seems we both have intelligent no. 3 kids. ;) GO CALLIE!!!
