Leigh "Sassy Fingers" Marin

Why do mobsters all have funny nicknames? Take for instance, Harry "The Hook" Aleman .... makes ya' wonder what the hook is for, doesn't it? And how about Anthony "Gaspipe" Casso - not too hard to figure out what his specialty was. Then there's Salvatore "Toto" Catalano .... I bet he's little. As in really short but tenacious, just like Toto proved to be there in Oz with Dorothy. But then we have John "No Nose" DiFronzo, and that's just gross, don'tcha think? He must be very ugly. I feel totally sorry for the guy whose name is Pasquale "Patsy" Conte - I wouldn't think "Patsy" would be a real comforting nickname if you're in the mob! I wonder if he spent a lot of time in jail. Ewww, and then there's Vincent "The Butcher" Flemmi - now that's just plain scary!

In searching for the unique wiseguy nickname, I came across a site which has a massive list of known mob guys and their illustrious nicknames, and you know what I discovered? All mobsters really ARE Italian! LOL Not one single name on that big ol' list which wasn't! I was relieved that my husband's family name was not on the list. With his Grandfather coming from Italy, it was a rather valid concern.

So, if you wake up tomorrow and decide you'd like to make a career change and become a mafioso, what would your nickname be?

I think I'd call myself, Debbie "walkabout" Hunt. Although, hubby thinks, Debbie "hot stuff" Hunt would be more suitable.

btw Beautiful new look, Leigh. :)

I've always liked Bugsy for a name. It's cliche, but it would work for me.
