In Memory and Honor
I don't have my new puter yet. Long story. I should have it tomorrow or the next day. But anyway, that's not why I'm "here" ...... I'm posting because ..... Curtis Long died Monday night. But .... who is Curt Long, right? Allow me to introduce him to you:
Curtis Long is(was) a man of great character and compassion. A determined leader, in his own quiet way. Someone who always seemed a little unsure of what to say .... but never was. He was my Mother's direct supervisor at work, being the Personnel Director for the City. She worked with him for 15 years before she retired, and in those years they became very good friends; in the last 13 they became even more so. He's the kind of man .... well .... he's the kind of person who, even though he most certainly did not have to, still sent Mom a $25 gift certificate every Christmas. Without fail. He's the man who helped us immeasurably 6 months ago when she passed. He was always there for her ..... and he was there for us. And now, just like that, he's gone. He was only 52 years old. He never married. Never had any children. But he had a tremendous amount of friends, and a family with whom he was very close. My sisters and I are so very thankful we were able to tell him back in April how much his friendship and generosity meant to Mom over the years, and to thank him for being so good to her. He will be deeply missed by so, so many. He died 6 months and 1 day after Mom.
I'm sure she was there to greet him when he got to Heaven.

He lived a good life and earned his wings in heaven. It is not how long you live here on earth it is how you live it. He lived it sharing kindness and love. That is my goal!!
You are very privileged to have known him.

Even though Mr. Long was a man of few words, when times are tough, listen closely and you'll hear him whispering... "When you need me, look inside your heart, I promise to be there".
(((hugs))) Leigh, I'm so sorry for the loss of not only your friend, but indeed a great man.
