I've Been Thinking ....

Hey, Everyone. :) How's it goin'? Very well, I hope. :) I have a few things on my mind today:

Leslie left a comment on my last blog entry saying that she hoped I would find something to smile about amid all the emotions and difficulty in clearing out my mother's house, and I have. Allow me to preface this by telling you that my Grandma lived with Mom after Grandpa passed away. After Grandma died, Mom could never bring herself to clear out Grandma's things from her bedroom, so we are doing it now. The other day we were going through the drawers in the dressing table (which we all had used growing up, too; me being the last before Grandma), and among all the teenage girl things and Grandma things, we found one of Grandpa's old watches. Grandma had obviously kept it after he died. It literally took my breath away when I saw it, and I began crying. It was like seeing him again. I asked my sisters if they minded if I kept it, to which they both replied no, of course not. So I brought it home and wound it up (yes, this watch was made before the battery-powered ones *g*), and low and behold, it worked! After 16 years of lying in an old drawer, it still keeps perfect time, as long as I remember to wind it. ;) So now my arm is adorned with a very old watch of the masculine variety, scratched crystal, worn band and too big to boot, and I couldn't be happier!! It brings me joy unimaginable every time I look at it. :)

I've been paying attention lately, and have found it is absolutely true that we learn something new every day. Even though ... ummm ... even though I can't remember any of them from the last few days, I can certainly remember recognizing them as new when I learned them, and being very appreciative of the fact. LOL I'm sure they will come back to me when I need them most. ;)

I put the camera on my new cell phone to use a couple days ago. There was one heckuva storm which passed through Thursday evening, dumping tons of rain on us, and I managed to snap a few pics of the clouds before the downpour began. They were quite ominous, going in all different directions! And there I was, snapping pictures while everyone else was seeking cover. LOL Anyway, thought I'd share a couple of 'em with ya' - not too bad for a camera phone, in my humble opinion! ;)

Kinda' scary lookin', huh!! I thought for sure we were in for some big hail, but thankfully we didn't get any. After the rain finally stopped, there was street flooding all over town, though, including in front of our house! If it hadn't have been so dark out, I would've snapped some pics of that, too. But anyway, it was fun playing with my new toy. ;)

I need to figure out why Miss Lily is not responding well to house training. I think I must be doing something wrong. I've tried everything I can think of, including reading articles and dog training books and doing what they say, but still she pees in the house. *sigh* But hey, at least she poops outside! LOL Well, at least most of the time, anyway. ;)

Miss Callie will be returning to school on the 26th. I can't believe Summer is almost over!! It went waaaaay too fast. The only good thing about it is that my grandson will be born VERY SOON! Due on the 22nd, but the Doc says he could come any time now! Woo Hoo!! :)))

I was reminded of something very important this morning while watching a movie on HBO; something which I had let slip my mind: Robert Redford is absolutely the sexiest man alive!! Mmmm mmm mmm! Positively YUMMY! ;)

I guess that's all that's on my little mind right now. Hope ya'll have a fantastic weekend! :)

Thoughts from others

*((((hugs)))))* I think of you daily!!

How do you put a camera on a cell phone? Do they make them like that?? The photos are great! Where are more doggy pics???

Have you kept her in a crate at night? I dont like crates but I was told to DO IT. So I compromised, I fixed Sadie a place in my bathroom with a kiddie gate, so she could still see me but feel confined. She was 6 weeks old when I put her in there, and she NEVER once went in her pen. I religiously took her out every two hours, And she pottied and pooped and then she came in and played, and then back out to pottie and then to the pen, and she is now 1 year old, and other than submissive wetting (she is afraid of my daughter) she goes outside every time. SHe was the BEST puppy, and now I am a convert to penning them up.

OH and way to go on finding some thing really nice to think about. It is very hard, but it has to be done so you can continue healing.

And 38 weeks now!!! ROCK ON GIRL!!! :)

That is sooo wonderful, Leigh! :)) Finding your grandpa's watch like that. I'd love to see it! ;)

Thanks for sharing these cool pics taken with your very cool camera phone. :) I got my very first mobile (cell ;) ) phone this year.:) Got it for my birthday. And Randall bought his own a couple of weeks after that. (only ever had a work phone ) Anyway, we've had some real FUN texting each other. *wink wink* say no more! lol

Tell Callie I hope she has heaps of fun during her last 3 weeks of summer break. :)
Bye for now. *waving*

Grampa's watch... now, that's a find for you. treasure it. Kyle has his grandpa's watch... Kevin has his Dad'c pocket watch. They are the only watches that continue to get batteries replaced.
Love you, Leigh!

Great find on the watch!!
Also great pictures of the storm!! I just love storms. I always look forward to Winter coming for the storms.
Miss Lily is adorable! Her eyes will stay blue.

Oh, Leigh -- I bet it feels like a little hug around your wrist. What a wonderful gift for you to find, something so sentimental.

I'll be anxiously awaiting the news of that grandbaby's arrival. How exciting for all of you.

Leigh-Angel - I am happy that you have managed to find something beautiful and treasured to create a happy memory. I sometimes forget a moment or a memory but it is not always the words themselves that creates a memory or a life lesson, but sometimes it can be just a feeling, a sensation, a smell.
I am so proud of you for keeping up with your non-smoking. You are my role model when I quit smoking. ((((hugs))))

I think it is important to find something to smile about every day - even though I know that it is hard. I often find myself not being able to do it either.

As for your puppy...try taking her to the same spot everytime - maybe you have done that, but just in case, try going to the same spot each time and take her out often. It took me two weeks to get our Maggie house broke and we did it this way as well. Praise her highly each time she does it right...you probably do that too.

Hello Leigh!

Hmm... just as I thought: you are doing, and being, and living life on life's terms... but best of all, you delight in embracing them all!
