In Remembrance

Two years.

Two years of rebuilding lives, neighborhoods, families, broken hearts. Two years since the unity of a nation was catapulted to heights never before known to my generation. Two years since the grief of a nation was shared in the cries heard around the world.

I placed these graphics here at midnight, and will not remove them until just before midnight tonight, in honor of all those whose lives were stolen that devastating day, and in undying gratitude to those selfless souls who gave their lives in an attempt to save others.

I will be visiting my tribute pages, which I created in the days following the attack in an effort to release the pain, and in honor of those who died .... and I will remember. I have not touched those pages since the day I put them up, and I never will. They serve as a testament and record of my feelings and emotions in the aftermath of the tragedy, and a monument, if you will, for all the souls who left this earth that day.

I believe it is good to remember. Yes, life goes on, but it goes on changed -- changed so significantly that it cannot -- should not -- be denied nor forgotten; for while our lives continue on, there are thousands of people whose lives will never, ever be the same again, regardless of how hard they try, or how much they wish. There are those who continue to heal both physically and emotionally to this day. There are remains still being discovered, which will finally be laid to rest, thank God. If we are to be a nation of compassionate, caring, empathetic people, then we must remember, regardless of how painful it may be.

A nation rose up in the face of evil that day, while the perpetrators of that evil thought they would bring us to our knees. Our strength as a people, and as a country, became inpenetrable when faced with the worst kind of adversity, and it is our responsibility as Americans to remember, and to renew that strength and unity!

God bless you all, and God bless America!
