Dreams
Day's heat left the night air heavy and warm.
As I lie drifting on the edge of sleep,
A breeze blows softly through open window,
Bringing with it the faint scent of lilac.
Floating in beauty surreal,
Vision is gifted with vivid splendor --
A meadow of rainbow flowers stretching to horizon's shore,
Lake of glass reflecting heaven's light,
Birds singing harmony in glorious symphonic song,
And there, my lover beckoning with smile.
In his arms, paradise,
Pure love wholly embracing,
My heart freed and soaring in a sky of unearthly blue.
Then a light so bright, through closed eyelids it shines,
Blinding nocturnal sight.
Reluctantly waking to the new day begun, I linger,
Yearning for a moment in eternity with .....
