The current category is: Blatantly Speaking
I have many, many things rumbling around in my head tonight. Far too many to even begin writing about right now. Maybe tomorrow, if I can decipher them enough for articulation. One thing I know for sure, though, is this:
I am wise enough to admit that I don't know everything, and am naive about a lot of things; but one thing that is becoming increasingly clear to me (which may have been obvious to the rest of you a long time ago, I don't know) is that greed, selfishness, unreasonable expectations and instant gratification are universal traits, crossing all political, gender, social and religious barriers.
It makes me feel significantly less hopeful about the future of humanity ..... and very, very angry.
Be forewarned that more of these rumblings from within will likely spill in the near future. They may not be enjoyable, but their controlled flow will stave the major eruption, which wouldn't be good for anyone standing nearby. After all, it's all about my sanity ........ isn't it????
Leigh, the fact that you are recognizing the universal nature of these very common human traits actually improves my hopefulness about the future of humanity.
You see, before a problem can be solved it has to be recognized. Before you can improve yourself you have to know what needs to be improved. The whole reason I rant about what I rant about on my blog is in hopes of making a few more people realize some of the simple truths such as the ones you listed here.
Remember: having those traits is part of what being human is all about. There is no shame in that. What matters is how you try to minimize the negative impact those traits can have on you and those around you. Trying and failing occasionally is nothing to be ashamed of. Not trying at all is.
Just my 2 cents.

Hi Les :) What a pleasant surprise! I really appreciate you taking the time to leave your 2 cents, because your "loose change" always enlightens me. ;)
In reading your comments, I was struck by this: "What matters is how you try to minimize the negative impact those traits can have on you and those around you." Precisely. I think what saddens me the most is that there just doesn't seem to be enough people who actually even think about the impact of their negativity, let alone try to minimize it. Too bad people can't be more like you and me, eh? LOL!
Thanks, Les. :) I always welcome your input!
