The current category is: Blatantly Speaking
Shock? an understatement
Awe? not in a good way
Do I support this war? I hate war
Do I believe Saddam Hussein is an evil tyrant? yes
Do I believe he should be removed, in whatever manner required? yes
Do I support my country? absolutely
Do I support our troops? without question
Do I pray for a quick resolution? constantly
To those people who burn the American flag in protest: while doing so, get down on your knees and thank God you live in a country which allows you to do such an unpatriotic and atrocious act.
And please ... someone explain to me the rationale behind protesting war ... with violence.
Leigh, I agree with you and I couldn't have said it better. I hope you have a relaxing weekend. *hugs*

Hi Leigh,
I think I wrote my feelings about this in some of my recent emails. I don't really have much to share right now, this being a time when people are sounding off for all sorts of reasons. If I can add anything, it's that surely how we deine ourselves as (so-called) peaceful people is as important as how we conduct ourselves in conflict (maybe even more so). However much they choose to consider their flag does not represent them (and like you say, they do at least live in a country that allows them to make such statements), one wonders what exactly they would choose to put in its place.
* Hugs & blessings *

Violence begets violence. And sitting down in a busy intersection, creating not only a dangerous situation but taking police officers away from more important duties cannot be a good "protest". While everyone has and SHOULD have the freedom of speech, placing others in harms way BECAUSE of your opinions, in ANY situation...is wrong!

There is no justifiable rationale behind using violence to promote peace. Most of these protesters aren't putting any decent thought into the what and how before they act and their demonstrations aren't going to have the intended effect as a result.
But then thinking isn't a strong point for a lot of Americans...

Leigh: Sorry....I get so confused finding my way through your blog, and where I can put my own thoughts down! :o) (I just get so blogged down!)LOL! You know, I am sure, that I am not very puter literate! LOL! Have a good time experimenting though! Anyway, about the protesters of this war....I think they all deserve their opinion. However, I do feel that many of them have totally forgotten what our U.S. Flag stands for, and that the men and women over there fighting this war are fighing for ALL of us, our right to live in peace, to live in a country that allows us our freedom, and the right to protest, unfortunately, as they are now choosing to do, rather than standing behind our country with support and prayer. Our soldiers are human beings, just like everyone else, with families and friends awaiting and praying for their safe return. May I just suggest that rather than protest, pray for our brave soldiers, and their families. Keep your opinions, but keep them quietly to yourselves, for now, and share your prayers with the rest of us?? Now is a time to stand behind our President and our Military, not a time to cause more upheavel and unrest. Our energies should be spent on positive actions for positive outcomes!
