Hollywood's Creative Amnesia

I was doing some reading over at Robyn's tonight, and found a link to this article regarding film director Roman Polanski and the upcoming Academy Awards. What I read made me sick. I am SO fed up with the way movie stars, television stars and famous sports figures constantly receive preferential treatment!

An excerpt from said article quoting Adrien Brody, star of "The Pianist":

"Roman's really content with his life and his family, what's important is people differentiate all this nonsense and focus on the achievement of making a film like this and what Roman has given us with a film like this. Nothing should distract from the purity of that."

What?!?!?! Well, isn't it nice that he's content with his life and family. And people should differentiate all this "nonsense"?????? What he did 26 years ago is nonsense??????? The fact that he is a fugitive from justice in this country is nonsense??? And we should forget all that and focus on the "purity" of his new movie, thereby gracing him with an Academy Award acknowledging his "talent"???? I can't believe the powers that be in Hollywood would even consider it! But then again, it IS Hollywood!! I guess they don't care if the ones making their movies are perverts, child-molestors and fugitives -- oh no, not as long as they make 'em MONEY!!!!!

Excuse me while I go puke!

Thoughts from others

these double standards suck, don't they? I really don't understand some people.

It's funny how money blurs the line between reality and 'nonsense', isn't it?
