Worth Remembering

Today was very .... full. Not of pleasant things, either. Hard choices; difficult people; high emotion. In reflecting on the day, I keep coming back to one particular moment in time .... a moment this morning when I was arriving back home from my visit to the doctor's office (yeah, again *sigh*). I parked the car, turned it off, and as I typically do, looked up into the sky as I opened the car door. What I saw first surprised me, then amazed me. There were at least twenty jet contrails in the sky! All over the place! That, in itself, is a spectacular sight (in my estimation, anyway); but the upper levels of the atmosphere were doing beautiful things to these contrails! It's like .... the wind had taken up paintbrushes, and with the finest touch began "spreading" the width until they were as wide a clouds ... feather-like strokes making them wispy in the sky .. and they were everywhere ... it was breathtaking. I watched for a long time as nature played with what man left behind, and marveled at how she can turn anything into a work of art. Especially on a canvas as phenomenal as the morning sky.

I thank God (or Mother Nature, or the airplanes, or ... whomever, whatever) for this memory. It puts a touch of beauty on a day which would otherwise be gloomy and .... not worth remembering. But now ... it is more than worth remembering -- it is worth a smile and a twinkle in my eye. :)
