I have a friend who is the most amazing writer I've ever known. He has blessed me with his gift more times than I can count. In exchanging emails with him last night, we began talking about birds, just in passing. He said he had always liked birds a lot, mainly because they were cool to draw. I told him that as a child, I had always wished I was a bird so I could fly; then I related a conversation between my 10 year old daughter and myself which had occurred just a couple of days prior, where she looked up at me and out of the blue said, "I wish I was a bird so I could fly". I smiled to myself, and as the memories of my childhood came flooding back, I replied, "I wish I was a bird, too ... then we could fly together". She smiled the smile of a child with magical imaginings swimming in her head. Ten minutes after clicking my "send" button, this came to my inbox:
Give me the wings I have prayed for
and I'll sew back the feathers
that fall from your heart
Give me some ripples
of girl-friendly clouds
and we'll swoop all the breezes apart
We'll
scoop out the bad stuff
and roll with the stars
and we'll
paint all the skies
'til the rainbow is ours
(Leigh and Callie's magic flight - by John Hulme)
Thank you, John, for gifting us with the magic only you can weave.
I see I am not the only one in this world who is touched by the magic words of John. :)

I think we are just two of many, many people, Jen, who are moved by John's incredible gift! :)

This little poem is truly magical. John certainly has a way with words, hey! :)))
And Leigh, Ryan has said the same thing to me..."I wish I could fly." :)
Let's all fly up to the fluffiest white cloud, and lie down and hide. *grin*

Debbie, I would LOVE to fly up to a fluffly cloud, lie down and hide for a while!! :) We could look down on everyone and everything else, and giggle and laugh at how silly and small it all looked. Ahhhhh .... dreams. :) Aren't they wonderful? :)))

Grief... I had no idea you'd made such changes to "Thoughtprints". I was wondering where you'd all gone (the "Soul Whispers" bit is quiet right now). Anyway, I had no idea you'd posted this, Leigh. Cool. I'm glad it hit the spot.
